Metamod:Source

Greetings,

I Seems to be having an issue with getting Metamod:Source to work under FF 2.1
The wiki has a nice walk through for installing it, yet I'm stuck at number 3.

It says that I should make an metamod.vdf file, which I can do at their site, and then put in the addons folder (/home/game/servers/hl2mp/FortressForever/addons/). I did just that and started the server. There is no metamod installed however when I type in "meta" on the console

Is there perhaps anyone who also had this incident and knows a solution to it ?

Try loading it by editing your gameinfo.txt.

first off you need to see if you made the metamod.vdf for linux or windows.

Then you need to know if your server is linux or windows. Create the proper file that page defaults to linux so if you didn't change the OS tab and you have a window's server it's the wrong command line inside your .vdf file.

Add me to your friends I'm home all day. steam friends = brokenballs

edit: I forgot to tell you to be sure you selected FortressForever in the games tab.

Can do!

First of all, cheers at [AE] 82694 for helping me out on steam-friends!

There's several minor adjustments to be followed when reading the wiki.
  1. Make sure the metamod.vdf file is placed in the /addons/ folder, not /addons/metamod/. You can create the .vdf file here.
  2. Inspect the metamod.vdf file, on linux the directory paths use forward slashes ("/"), instead of backslashes ("\").
  3. Any mod you wish to install / use has its own <mod>.vdf file. These files go into the /addons/metamod/ folder. Again, please inspect the files to look at the correct directory paths for the OS you are running.

Next to check if the metamod is load, simply type "meta version" into the console.
It should read out something like:
Quote:
Metamod:Source version 1.4.4.705
Loaded As: Valve Server Plugin
Compiled on: Jul 26 2008
Plugin interface version: 10:7
SourceHook version: 4:3
http://www.metamodsource.net/
If you wish to check the plugins you install, just type "meta list".
Mine show:
Quote:
meta list
Listing 2 plugins:
[01] SourceMod (1.0.4) by AlliedModders LLC
[02] SDK Tools (1.0.4) by AlliedModders LLC
Hope this helps the other admins

Fixed a couple type O's. The paths a very important sourcemm, AKA Meta Mod
isn't in the file structure so even though you and I know which folder some new people that read may not. Looks good great job on explaining. It's also worth mentioning that the metamod.vdf file only works with version 1.4.3 up If I remember correctly.

Thanks for posting this. I'm having issues with it right now. Not sure why, but its calling a file that isn't even there... and I just installed the POS.

Argh.

Fixed it. Stupid oversight on my part.
