Kind of a light hearted joke post, but I'm kind of drunk so I'm willing to take it super seriously.
I'd just say that I think the best shot for an HL brand fortress offshoot, would be a tech/graphically updated FF, that completely drops the "Fortress Forever" brand, and maybe even strays away from from the "Fortress" branding entirely. Keep the the solid game play and physics from FF, but just totally rebrand. Rebrand from FF to dodge all the "FF hate", and sub-rebrand all the classes and such. Rebrand the medic so people realize he's an offensive DM class, rebrand the scout so people don't think he's some DM power house like he is in TF2. Rebrand the game so people can more easily understand the goals of each class in relation to the old school "fortress" type of game play. That's where FF2 at brah. Man FF is the best.

yeah image is important. and use euphemisms so people are not offended by a medic. like maybe healing specialist
i can't think of how to hide the classes from people so they don't catch on but maybe make them all the same model i think michael jackson is a person most people like Last edited by 9u-9u-9u; 05-30-2016 at 04:22 PM. Reason: didn't know what i was talking about |

Yeah I think most of the classes should probably look like michael jackson.
But in terms of rebranding them I was thinking like renaming them. Like change the medics name and don't label him as anything related to healing. So people don't say ok this is the medic, and he's for healing. Same for scout.

Yes, have some. I agree, more FF. I like the rebrand idea. If we put effort into it, we could include a mod of FF right there within the FF install, or a little more separate using a different (beta) branch (but don't think "beta" just think branch like any kind of offshoot from main). Or we could request a new appid, I'm sure. Lot of options with Steam. Could really play around with ideas, not just FF2, could be something totally different but with TF concepts in mind like unique movement and class based gameplay or whatever aspect of TF you're thinking.

Match making is the thing now. Long standing server communities are a thing of the past. You have to cater to the now. Marketing is huge. To even have a game of 1000 people you need something to sell. I'm willing to dump some money into something like this if there is any effort.
