Utilities, Share yours
A place to share and discover nifty utilities. Can be anything so long as it's purpose is useful.
The few things I'm using and now consider essential are: RBTray* or Trayit! Folder Marker (free)* or iColorFolder Tinyspell Unlocker And the more common: Rainelender (thanks Drain Bamaged) Rocketdock with Stacks Docklet I am after a alternative to windows clipboard. Haven't had a proper look yet because as with everything there are so many around and many variations. Any recommendations? Edit: From now on please post like this so post are easy to see and don't get buried: Link in bold green text size 3. With a brief description. vB code List if you need it: http://www.fortress-forever.com/foru....php?do=bbcode Unlocker "Unlocker is an explorer extension that allows you with a simple right-click of the mouse on a file or folder to get rid of error message such as error deleting file or folder, cannot delete folder"

You, sir, are welcome.
Apps I use: Objectdock, kinda like Rocketdock but different. Hott notes 4: this is a BILSS when you have a habit of forgetting stuff, and I have one! And I'm experimenting with Aston Shell, I'm trying to convert the entire desktop to look like the DODnetSystems menu in Crysis. That's about it, iColorFolder looks nice, might use it. |

Looks like you need a recovery cd a LOT.
Check out Hiren's Boot cd, that's a good one too. |

1) The text rendering is better looking. Sharp and clean. 2) It has a BG theme with it that matches my Windows theme almost perfectly. Saved me many possible hours trying to find a RD BG theme. RD is supposedly lighter, but I switch off magnification (don't care for it much) and set the icon size to 32 px, same as Windows which I did in RD cause it's how I like it, and the resources are practically the same. Oh and most add-ons from both docks are cross-compatible I mentioned this before the RD faggots start with the resource blabber.

HTTrack Website Copier - Open Source offline browser
I have been going through some of my bookmarks, to be disappointed that a fair amount are History. Particularly HL,TFC related pages. Just tried HTTrack, had to have a quick flick through the manual but it works a treat. Don't know if there is/are a better alternative.. but umm, yeah. There is BackStreet Browser, didn't need to try it though. And yes, I know about WayBackMachine.

Program :: FAR Manager
[ Description ] Far Manager is a program for managing files and archives in Windows operating systems. Far Manager works in text mode and provides a simple and intuitive interface for performing most of the necessary actions: - Viewing files and directories. - Editing, copying and renaming files. - Syntax highlighting in program source texts. - Working with FTP-servers (including access through proxy). - Search and replace in many files at the same time, using regular expressions. - Renaming groups of files with support for complex compound masks consisting of substitution symbols and templates. - NNTP/SMTP/POP3/IMAP4 clients and sending messages to a pager. - Working with non-standard text screen resolutions. - Conversion of texts from one national code page to another. - Manipulating the contents of the Recycle Bin. - Process priority control on local or network PC. - Words autocomplete in editor and working with templates. - Windows system registry editing. - Creating and modifying Windows shortcuts. - File and text operations making it more comfortable to use FidoNet. - Files UU-encode and UU-decode. - WinAmp control and MP3-tags modifying. - Quake PAK-files processing. - Printers control, both connected to PC and network. - Connection and debugging of queries to ODBC-compatible databases. - RAS service control. - External programs executing (compilers, converters etc.) while editing text in Far editor. - Windows help files contents displaying (.hlp and .chm) - Calculators with different possibilities. - Several games :-) - Spell checker functions while editing text in Far editor. - Removable drives catalog preparation and much more... [ Comments ] I use it for doing everything in windows when it comes to file management: opening files, browsing files, organizing files, and even for uploading and downloading via FTP. The only time I don't use it is to browse pictures since it's a command prompt based program it doesn't have picture support for obvious reasons. |

Shows the contents of your drive as boxes relative to the files's size. Extremely useful if you need to make space but you don't know what to delete. |

I second AnyDVD; it's a must for dvd ripping. I used to use DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter but have switched to CloneDVD2 for all ripping & burning needs as it hasn't ever crashed on me like the other 2 apps.
i'd like to add: Miranda IM (combines AIM / ICQ / Jabber / MSN / Yahoo / GaduGadu / IRC), Skype, Entunnel, Foobar 2000, WinSCP, PuTTY, and TightVNC (but only used over SSH tunnels)

I'd use Pidgin or M-IM, much cleaner and lighter than that bloatetd WLM. Only con is they don't support webcams. I'd be using one of them otherwise.
