feelings about HL2
This is a large theme, but hey , thats a chat section!
What do you like, dislike, love , hate and much more about HL2 My biggest deception... the weapons... I liked so much the aliens weapons in HL1, now you have 2 pistol, 2 smg, the cb and sg, and nades/RPG. What about those little alien bombs ? i loved them soooo much. The story is good, i like it alot. I cannot really say why, i like it : period. This is those kind of things that you just like The vehicules, i like the idea a lot! I'd love to see some in DM or TDM maps to see if this would unbalance the game I dont know about HL1 , but in HL2, if you shot the head, it deals more damage than anywhere else. So i aim for the head everytime! The Grav gun is a good wep (imo). Its new, and fun |

When you get behind the odd story line connection, the nice AI, the shiney objects, the realistic look of everything this is what I don't like about HL2:
- The sounds, horrible. - The lack of old weapons - Creation of new characters based on old ones. I'd rather Gordon just meet new people instead of giving personality to characters who previously lacked it. Barney is the only acception. And may be Kliener (or however you spell his name). Eli should have never existed. - Stuttering (need I say more?) - Level design, the game didn't feel like Half-Life at all. - Ugly HUD, I had hoped that HUD was just there during E3 - Ugly Crosshairs (but the original had this problem too so they get away with it) All in all I liked the game, but it was shat in a few categories. I just hope Valve has some plans storyline wise or else this is going down the toilet. I don't think they do. But I hope so *crosses fingers* |

Eli is the black scientist from hl1. Why are Barney and Kleiner exceptions but not him?

I like the story and I'll tell you why. If you were to make a film out of the story line, it would be a good film. Simple as that. Obviously, you leave out the travelling scenes, but you use all the cut scenes, and the rest are action sequences. It would have action and a good story, like all good action films.
Now try and make a film out of doom 3. Oh noes, evil demon spawn. Quick send in the marine. Bang. Bang. Bang bang bang (Etc etc for the rest of the film) Teh end... Oh wait, I think I just described "Aliens" |

I happened to like the sound in Half-life 2...a lot. The music is awesome when it plays and it always adds great atmosphere. One thing HL and HL2 both did great was their use of music...badass music no less.

I'm not a big Doom 3 fan. I've played it, and I seen little to no storyline. I also read that the movie Doom will have little to do with the games other than "Big Marine guy shoots aliens". I'll still watch it though.

Speaking of games-to-movies
We've got a whole bunch coming: Released ones: Resident Evil Resident Evil: Apocalypse Mortal Kombat Mortal Kombat: Annihilation Super Mario Bros. Tomb Raider Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life House of the Dead Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within Tekken Double Dragon [======================================] Coming soon: Far Cry Spy Hunter Bloodrayne Doom Deus Ex Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Mortal Kombat: Domination Alone in the Dark Driver Fatal Frame Metroid Silent Hill Tekken [======================================] I'd have to say the ones I'm "looking forward to most" is Deus Ex (How can a movie based on this game fail) FF : Advent children Bloodrayne (Kristanna loken is hot) Doom (Fun to see if it can actually have a story) Far Cry (If they pull it off) Metroid (perhaps, can't see it having much of a story or dialogue) Original thread : http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...hreadid=162906 |

I remember when they tried to bring a bunch of games to movies in the 90s. It didn't work out so well (ie. Super Mario Brother and Street Fighter). Although the Resident Evil series has done quite well, IMO, I'm still a bit leary about seeing games converted to movies.

The first Mortal Kombat was totally badass. The second was one of the worst pieces of garbage I've ever wasted time on.

The same guy that done House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark is also doing Blood Rayne, Far Cry, and Hunter the Reckoning. Needless to say those movies are going to all out butcher the games they are based on. Blood Rayne is about a bisexual vampire, expect alot of unwanted nudity. While I'm all for nudity, if I wanted fake porn I'd watch HBO at night.

I am totally looking forward to Deus Ex.
The Far Cry Plot Line was pure cheese...saved only by the engine...Here's hoping the movie adaptation is much better. Doom...I can only pray that the filmmaker gets a restraining order against John Carmack. He could make 17 chainsaw juggling Miss America contestants seem boring...great engines...but the boy has a one track mind... |

lol, I actualy disagree with you on every point. It's just preference though. This director, Ewie Bowl (however it's spelled) is the one making most of those movies. He made House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, and is making Bloodrayne, and a few others. He sucks. He sucks a lot. His movies are a disgrace and an insult to movie making....but they're so freaking histericle. My friends and I laughed the whole way through Alone in the Dark. But keep an eye out for his name, because anytime you see it, the movie's gonna suck. Just hope he doesn't destroy a classic, or one of your favorites. If he touches Final Fantasy, Halo, or Half-Life, I swear I'll kill him. (in a non-violent, non-me-getting-arrested-way) |

I played Hunter, in fact next to Halo and Fusion Frenzy, Hunter was my favorite game. I've never had as much fun with any console game as I did with Hunter. Me and my roommates spent all day and all night playing that game. And now this moron is going to ruin it.
Alone in the Dark was possibly the worst movie I have seen all year. Not because it didn't fit with the game, in fact I have never played the game, but simply because it makes NO SENSE at all. You go from "THEY ARE EVIL" to "HEY LETS BE FRIENDS AND TEAM UP" to "HAHA I TRICKED YOU NOW YOU ALL WILL DIE" in the last 30 minutes. WTF? |

Metroid
Man , i'd die to see this. I always thought the metroid series could make great film! Now i cross my finger to have this baby alive and well and that no one will destroy it!!! With their ******* stupids idea that destroy a movie! I disliked the first resident evil because the story was like 4 games in one. They took certain parts of certain game and put it together |

A video game movie must do two things:
1. Resemble the game its on. 2. Be friendly to those who haven't played the game. I had played bits and pieces of the first few Resident Evil games. I went into the first movie not having one single memory of the game. I came out slightly satisfied. The second movie I thought was even better. If you base a movie EXACTLY on a video game storyline you get alot of uneeded scenes and if it were to be done you'd get a very short movie. Resident Evil made up where it needed to IMO while there were alot more things needed. The problem with House of the Dead was that the foundation was nearly non existant. You can't make a movie off a game that had hardly any storyline to begin with. Look at the Mario movie. Its nothing like the game because the game has nothing to be based off of. Hunter the Reckoning has ALOT of storyline, especially if you combine the two sequels. Not to mention the fact that the game is based on an old old game. It has true potential to become a good movie. The developers are said to keep a close eye on the dumbass who can't direct. |

I'm really looking foward to advent children, Cloud is my hero.
As for Mortal Combat movies, they are horrible but I can't help but love them Super Mario Brothers was another horrible movie that I really enjoyed. I hope they don't mess Metroid up. |
