Well, of all the peeps on that list, theres only 2 I would even consider using in my videos. Enigma, & Vivian Hsu.

It's bullshit that they do that though, I mean god forbid they actually get free advertisement to the shit...

Your reputation with Record Labels has severely decreased.
Your reputation with The Internet has increased.

tbh, I think its a good thing for video game highlight movies.

I want to hear something new and interesting. Find a local band that wants some free advertising. They'll feed you tracks all day.

You're insane. Limiting music choices like that is not the (correction: best)way to get local bands free advertising.

I don't think that's what he meant. I think he meant that he is annoyed by all these attempts at "cool videos" that pretty much just take popular songs and run them along side video of [insert game here].

If not.. then that's at least what I mean, as I find it annoying to look for videos of well... anything and finding fallout boy blaring over what I thought was a good scene but is now destroyed but that annoying emo crap band.

Now, YouTube isn't exactly who's doing this, it's WMG. And I do disagree with their thought process. I don't believe that it makes any sort of sense when it comes to protecting their investment. It isn't like these people are making money off of WMG's intellectual property. Nor are they destroying the integrity. It's music, they are expressing it and showing people what it means to them as fans. Even if you don't like the music (sort of how I don't like Fallout Boy) The use of their songs in you tube isn't detrimental to the band. It just shows people what kind of depth can be attained...

Still, I really hate Fallout Boy. I think that's my point here.

You're absolutely right, but its out of our hands, so we need to make lemonade from lemons.

It sucks, but honestly, people were putting up whole albums up on youtube, and even though we know that it helps the band's popularity, which is ultimately good for the band, it's not good for the record companies, and they are striking back with lawsuits.

I hate the fact that sweeping "cover our ass" moves like this usually end up doing much more harm than good, but on the bright side of that, posting copywritten material is against TOS, and the videos involved could have gotten your account suspended/removed.

3 Years? I don't think i've bought an actual cd since I was like 10. And I don't do that itunes crap. I used to download music during the napster erra, but even that I've stopped doing.

Personally imo if someone's paid for the song legally (as in bought a cd or through itunes), he should be able to use it as he wishes (provided he's not making money off of it).

I seriously don't see the harm in using music on homemade youtube videos. Can't wait for the record companies to crumble, they're pretty much shooting their own feet, fighting the public soo much.

I only buy music of my favorite artist, Doro(she is on the AFM label, so WMG isn't getting any of my money). However, what everyone should do, is start a boycott..... of the Warner Music Group.

Seriously.... you want to make a statement, do a vocal boycott of them. In fact, it would even be good to start picketting record stores, and talking to customers and letting them know about this. Tell them that it's ok to buy non-Warner CDs, DVDs, and related products, but to boycott anything Warner puts out.

I could understand them trying to stop people from bootlegging their products.... but this is just retarded.

Sonic, if you can tell me how youtube has personally whored you or done you wrong ppl might listen. What do they owe you? Don't like a decesion facebook/youtube/twitter/insert company here makes? be brave enough or smart enough to start your own.

There's such a level of consumer entitlement in society that it makes me sick and i don't quite yet know what to make of it.

I didn't say that I had stopped buying music because of YouTube, I said I stopped buying music because of greedy record companies such as Warner doing dumb things such as this. As a direct result of Warner's (I assume they demanded they do it) decision, I feel that YouTube will be a lot less enjoyable.
