Map Idea : Trimp map

since FF is gonna include trimp jumping, i thought it would be cool to have a map dedicated to trimp jumping. like tfc's concmaps, the object would be to get from the beginning of the map to the end. the player would be limited in resources (rockets, concnades, etc) for each jump, but would have to use trimp jumping to reach the end of each jump.

Okay, I searched it and I'm still none the wiser. What's trimp jumping? Never even heard of it before. (Then again I've heard about chop hopping and gliding but haven't got a clue what they are either. :S)

Chophop is a spam of +duck commands to fool the game physics into maintaining speed from conc/rocket after landing. This is different to 'bunnyhopping' or 'bhopping' and 'skimming' which are all allowed.

Many people have been asking, just how far 'Chophopping' can be taken as cheating.

Usually the common form of chophopping is using the _special alias, other chophop forms that involve spamming the mousewheel commands are also banned. You may think you can get away by saying you just hit a key bound to +duck (ala, ctrl). But that way will only maintain speed for a few hops. Although hitting duck a few times after landing is allowed, abuse of this isn't.

To sum it up, anyway you maintain speed illegally (breaking game physics laws) after landing is chophopping, and thus... banned.

trimping is when u jump off a ramp causing your x axis and y axis speeds to be combined into your new angle. an example of it in tfc would probably be the little ramps at fd of monkey. when u conc into them and getting thrown forward around fd

theres a fair few explanations on this site, mainly from defrag

The monkey example isn't actually trimping, but meh.

My idea was to make skill/trick maps akin to q3 tricking maps where various trick combinations can be performed (conc, bhop, trimp, rjump, nade jump, pipe jump etc...).
They're usually huge rooms with various platforms, ramps and shit. Although they have no real objective, they are more freeform. There are also maps similar to your usual skill maps which usually have you complete them as fast as possible (defrag runs).

It'd be good to see these pop up that encorporated all (or most) skills instead of the one, like concmaps.

Trimping is when u change your horizontal velocity into vertical velocity, generally by hitting a ramp after a conc and jumping. Real trimping needs a jump.
There seems to be a lot of confusion about what trimping is and what people usually describe in regards to tfc is just ramp sliding basically. Trimping as it was in quake isn't present in tfc.

Trimping is a singularly stupid word for that. Why not ricocheting? Ramping? Something, I dunno, sensible?

So is going up the ramps in SD2s yard four times and then flying onto the balcony classed as trimping or ramp sliding?

eg. Conc onto the ramp, gain height, air strafe land on other ramp, gain height round to other ramp and then round another two times and finally up onto the capture point.

Bloody hard to explain what I mean. Saw it in a tfc movie. Was called 'cognition'. Done by that GuMbY guy - he's insane.

couldn't exactly make this map until u get a feel for the power of trimping in ff, which will require its final release.

Personally I've always called it ramp sliding, trimping is really a 'quake term' used mostly by american tfcers. Oh, and 'trimping' sounds a hell of a lot better than 'ricocheting' ffs. Don't know what you're getting at Circuitous..
