New AvD Map

This is going to be a 3 point attack v defence map. Haven't decided on a name yet, but maybe ff_crocodile or ff_dingo. All the bestest maps have animal names.

Update 20/9/06
Done a bit of development to all the areas at the same time, so everywhere is sort of half finished right now. I'm trying to make it look more domestic, like people actually lived here, but I need to keep the big dividing walls between areas.

These pics are all taken from defensive positions.

Many more thanks to Nezumi for a 2nd hostage.

1. Why pyros?

2. Add trim!

3. I notice some of the buildings are cut-off with open tops. Is there a low ceiling in the map or something? Seems like you'd be able to conc/rj that high pretty easily.

4. Add trim!

5. Add props!

The layout looks sweet, just needs some livening up and some trim or something along the edges to break things up. Seeing the same tile EVERYWHERE is a bit much.

I take it this is more showing off the layout, eh?

Just make sure you have plenty of directional signs, or this will be as confusing to people as poker being called a 'winter sport'.

I love you thank you for making an avd map. This is avanti style right? It looks a bit like arendal_l_rc3 but smaller. I hope there is room for jumps and stuff.

Its got a fun looking layout, but is there any way to make it seem less like a closed in yard in the sky?

I love the look of this map, it almost looks mediterranean. I have some concerns though:
Those bolards which line the walkways, they look as if they would disrupt player movement

The floor texture, i would definatly have grass/mud areas to vary it a bit, and i would change the current texture, try a stone or another concrete texture

Its looking good but could look a whole lot better, try different texture sets to give the different buildings/rooms more personality and definition. You should whack down some noised displacements for some of the floors outside, make a little grassy bit or something, just to make it a bit more interesting.

Horse good is very excellent but not why the badger of Bulgaria there is not? I lighting like it as sunny and warm during summer evening maybe or so. Think I your map though to be own of lots is advice of mine to good make it. Ideas of lots I am to have now and for salary of smalls and badger shoes help you will.

He's right though. The horse should be a badger.

ff_badger ftw.

i fully support this map, AD are my favorite type of map

its looking good so far, just an interesting idea to throw out you should make a lot of the walls dettable so that by cp4 half the town is destroyed and its chaos, but still making sure they are 2 choke points

I like the layout, but cant tell if its a bunch of high platforms and low walkways all the same height, one way or another.

Nice that your taking that step. It's hard to do A/D maps. That said, turn down the brightness/fix the bloody textures.

Hes right, its much easier to have a balanced CTF map than a balanced AVD map. All it takes is one ramp in the wrong place and suddenly the map is screwed and every game lasts 5 minutes tops. CTF on the other hand is usually just two mirrored bases, so any imbalances are mirrored for the other team too. The only thing to watch for is having it too easy/hard to cap, but even then some people prefer games with very little caps, and some prefer defense heavy caporamas.
