Global Warming on Mars
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/n...s-warming.html
O SNAP? Perhaps the martians should cut down on their CO2 emissions, as it isn't the suns fault. Oh wait... |

Read the second page of the first link. Martian warming is the result of surface albedo change (from their huge dust storms they have). Or, as some have suggested, as result of orbital forcings (changes in the planet's relationship to the sun). Some even suggest the warming is local, not global.

That's the accepted theory among climate scientests who also believe that global warming is true. Read my second link, and also, Earth experiences similar fluctuations.

That's the accepted theory by scientists who study astronomy, climate, and other related fields. This has nothing about who they are; that's just an ad hominem attack. In fact, this is accepted by even those who don't "believe global warming is true." Well, quite frankly, that isn't quite applicable because I don't believe there's a single climate scientist who doesn't believe Earth is warming up except for Ball and maybe a few others. I've read your second link. Solanki is an outlier. His research is well taken, however. But people like to cherry pick or misrepresent people's quotes. Here's what Solanki had to say in 2004: "since about 1980, while the total solar radiation, its ultraviolet component, and the cosmic ray intensity all exhibit the 11-year solar periodicity, there has otherwise been no significant increase in their values. In contrast, the Earth has warmed up considerably within this time period. This means that the Sun is not the cause of the present global warming"[1]. Is the Sun being underrepresented? Perhaps. Is it the cause of recent global warming? Probably not. There's no denying that anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions are the cause of the recent, observed increase in temperature.

Just my opinion on global warming nothing factual. We as the human race have been cutting down forests for thousands of years. Now we know that tree's put oxygen in the air and take out carbon dioxide. Now they say that the carbon dioxide is one of the main reasons for global warming (all the cars, industry, etc etc). So I say the less tree's tho more carbon dioxide the less oxygen the warmer it gets.

Obviously deforestation is an important factor in global warming. However, deforestation is not not growing at the rate that would be expected for the current warming. In fact, there's been a little bit of research that says that forests can exacerbate the warming (here). It's unlikely deforestation plays a large role in the current warming trend.

What an illogical argument.
You are saying: Natural global warming happens on mars. THEREFORE humans don't contribute to global warming on Earth? Those two statements have no connection - you are completely ignoring all of the scientific evidence. The statements don't even connect on anything but theme - theres no logic there. That's like me saying you got lung cancer and you don't smoke, therefore me smoking doesn't contribute to me having lung cancer. Absurd. |

Totally going off on a tangent global warming is not something I am worried about, its the global cooling which more worries me. The more CO2 We have in the atmosphere the less likely the whole world is of going into an ice age.
Bring on the global warming, I don't mind the fact summer is earlier and warmer |

No matter what, the Earth is going to go through its natural periods of warming and cooling. Orbital forcings will inevitably lead us back in an ice age, but this will not happen for tens of thousands of years. (This claim isn't necessarily substantiated, as our contributions to the current warming could soon be irreversible by nature alone.) Some of us are worried about the time between now and then. There are clear and present dangers in allowing the Earth to warm at the rate that it is, and there's no doubt that humans are contributing a large amount to this process. But I'm not here to be a scaremongerer--just to inform.

I don't want global warming to exist, therefore it doesn't.

Agreed, I hold my giant fucking SUV too close to my heart for it to be real. Let's go make petty insults at the people who believe in it.

You would also expect warming on all the other planets and moons, now wouldn't you?
