Well, you do have to realize that human skin is like blotter paper. So in order to get defined lines, you need to have a large piece. The best I can describe it as is "Painting watercolors on blotter paper with cotton swab. Because the human skin is so fragile, one has to be careful when applying it, as an application too shallow will lose pigment in the healing process, and too deep will cause scarring which is painful and creates translucent scar tissue that diffuses light, making the tattoo appear blurry or "blown out"



Even on a large backpiece like this one, close up, individual lines won't be much to look at.

I totally understand where you're coming from on the "I can't see myself getting anything," but even if you don't have any tattoos, seeing what others have and what drives them to get these words/images on their body forever is interesting in my opinion.
Even if it isn't apparent, every tattoo tells a story.
