My water source has no carp. I've picked a clam area outside of their biome.
The only threat is kobold thieves (yawn) and goblin raids.
I'm gonna wait for my fortress to be finished before I post pics. Well, not so much the underground of it - that will take days of my time to build. I'm talking about the mighty keep that I have built above ground. :3
