Canada's pot smoking laws are a little weird and ambiguous.

You're technically not allowed to possess it at all, but they're not going to arrest you for anything under 28 grams, you may get fined or something, and the only time you're really in any danger of being punished is if you're caught with it in your vehicle.

There's laws too where if you're in medical need of it, you're allowed to legally grow your own.

In Vancouver, they even have pot cafe's, so long as they remain low key, and no trafficing goes on there BYOW (Bring Your Own Weed), they're pretty much left alone.

The only real criminal busts for it are large grow-ops, or in possession of huge quantities. But those guys that get busted with 10 lbs of the stuff are generally pretty stupid, they usually do more than sell pot, they traffic guns and harder drugs, which is usually the reason they get busted, then the cops are like "Oh and we found 10 lbs of weed.... err sorry only 4 lbs of weed our bad".

It's B.C's 2nd largest export (2nd to lumber), which is why jokes about it and the olympics can be quite common, since out of all of Canada B.C is the most known for it.

Pot is very much silently accepted in this country. And it's too common for the police to even care about minor possession of it, whereas I've heard that in the states if you're caught with even .5grams of it you're in serious trouble.
