You honestly think the principal is going to buy the: "A younger, smaller kid was beating me up. Stop that, please." story? Big kid did exactly what he should've done. Made sure the little kid wasn't going to keep fighting, AND NO MORE than that. The fact that he didn't sit on him and start wailing on him shows more maturity than I think a lot of people would've shown in a similar situation.
