It would be stupid to think the stuck-up competitive community didn't have a part in this modification's failure. These are the people who constantly dick about in pubs waiting for their pickup to fill. If the pickup doesn't fill, they start harassing regular pub players to help them fill a slot or two. The last time this happened to my knowledge, a younger member of the Fortress Forever community was used as cannon fodder just to get the pickup started, and when he did poorly, the pickup community had no problem treating him like shit and talking shit behind his back despite his age and inexperience.
The competitive community is a joke anyway. They're situationally good. Why do you think these 'competitive' players always dick around in pubs and complain about how pubs suck? It's because they don't want to defend themselves when they get rolled by public players. They're always 'just messing around'. The pickup players are not used to dealing with Pyros or Snipers or people doing innovative and dynamic strategies. They're used to seeing the same two weak ass classes doing the same linear ass strategy over and over. They've become masters of doing it and countering it and the second an actual challenge comes their way, someone break out the tissues, because they're going to spend the next five hours crying in #ff.pickup about how they kept getting sent to their respawn by d Scouts.
