I actually find the pyro is pretty good at going toe-to-toe with a solly, if both players are roughly of equal skill. Which means for me, running a pyro on offense against a solly is not much use as you're both most likely going to die or be near death, and the solly will just be back in position before you get back there.

That said, it's not much use running a solly O against a pyro D for the same reason, both players will die, or the solly will be soo close to death after the engagement he won't be much use in the enemy base afterwards.

Infact if it weren't for the fact that the solly has the stopping power for the scouts and meds, the pyro would be the class of choice if the enemy is running heavier offense against you.

But since this is a team game, and if you really want to be usefull for your team, lets say you're on offense the pyro is a great harasser of the solly. You don't have to fully engage him, just harass the hell out of him, it will distract him for your other teammates to accomplish more and there's a good chance you will seriously piss the guy off and cause him to break off from his standard routine just to focus on you, in which case your teammates are really open to take advantage of his absense.

Or if you're on defense and sollies are coming O against you, be a pyro near the front of your base. Remember it's a team game you don't need to make the kill, but you'll hurt the solly enough that even if he kills you, he'll have most likely wasted atleast 1 nade, and a couple rockets, and be hurt pretty bad. Making it easy for your teammates behind you to finish him off.
