To answer the free roaming inquiry I'll just say, "Yes, you can go anywhere."

The Unreal Tournament map was called Galleon. It was a huge influence and a favorite. I almost named this map Galleon, but decided not to because it's too different. However, I did port Peak Monastery and Gael to TFC, as I am a big UT Fan.

I was reluctant to put up my storyboard art concept, but you asked for the layout:
If you look at the top of this picture you can see an overhead view of the ship. On the left is the captains mess (red flag) and on the right is the bow (blue flag). The 3 arc slashes represent sails with ladders on port and starboard of each. There are 2 checker board like squares in the middle of the boat which represents broken flooring with team spawns underneith. More than 3 seconds in the water spells death, and I put four life boats on either side of the spawns which act mostly as alternative exits from the spawn.

Heh, you can even see the word Galleon at the top - my maps beta name.
