bot code was being developed a few years ago, but the person working on it basically bailed. It's too bad, I probably would play FF 10x as much if it had bots. Not only would people be able to play it when there weren't enough people, but it means you wouldn't need so much of a critical mass to enjoy a game like you do now. With both, just 2 people in a server could have a good time and it would encourage more to join that wouldn't otherwise.
