Alt tabbing from loading server
Alt-tabbing from a loading server will disallow you from tabbing back in

If you alt-tab while the server is gathering information and connecting and then try to tab back in whether its loading or finished, you will hear the sounds of the game, but your screen will remain on what you were looking at before you tried to alt-tab back in (example, your desktop with steam games menu up). The only way to use your start bar and so on is to alt-tab out of the unplayable game. You must go through the load screen before alt tabbing or it will render the game unplayable when you try to maximize. This always happens, you can reproduce it by alt-tabbing when a server is loading and trying to tab back in. It's not specific, and I upgraded to 2.1 from 2.0 when the 2.1 updater was released.

Yes I've seen this too. In fact you can still type in the console while this happens. Typing ` quit will cause the game to exit.

I'm fairly certain this is a HL engine issue.

This is a HL engine issue, happens with all mods. It isn't something we can fix.
