1) This should be under the tech support forum

2) Make sure the Source SDK 2006 is installed

3) Someway or another, your client library is missing. You need to reinstall your client. (Steam game, then reinstall the mod if that doesn't work); Make sure your copy of HL2 isn't pirated (else you're screwed... mostly)

4) Your .GCF library that the game uses may be corrupt, and in which case it means deleting said .gcf and re-dling it from steam.

5) Make sure your computer can support Half-Life 2.

6) stick in a ticket with steam support, and do some research on the steam forums about the crash. (Google is your friend)

7) if all else fails, get a new machine and start from scratch with a real title on your lap.

Go through USER CLIENTS and not the server clients.

You launch the SDK by itself (under tools)?

Make sure your card is up-to-date. It sounds like your graphics driver isn't able to handle it very well. (esp if you needed to reduce it that low)

Upgrade your machine.
