ping-dependant delay of the grentimer-sound
like he said ...
Hi there,
playing on high-ping connections isnt fun and one of the most annoying effect is the gren being late compared to the grentimer-sound. Maybe you could delay the grentimer-sound for the current ping-time (maybe the mean of it) of the player? would be nice :)

I have actually seen the grenade explode slightly before the timer finishes.

Yeah, it's not perfect. I find the visual timer to be more consistent, though.

This may be to a lack of my understanding on the system, but why can't it be like:
Activate Conc >
Server Receives Conc >
Server Broadcasts Conc to all Players >
The grenade activates clientside >
Your visual timer and sounds begin >
