Anyone here in any bands? Here's something from mine

Anyone in a band that has music online and wants to share?

A very very rough track of my latest band (singer):
*SNIP*

I'm curious to know what people think. New band and just getting on our feet, not shared this before now.

*EDIT* Original track posted was a demo. Can now see current musical creations here: http://www.reverbnation.com/falsepretenceuk

Not my cup of tea, this song at least. Song has good structure, polished pretty decently too. Major plus points for harmony singing. Nobody does that anymore.

On the recording, it sounds like there's some sort of tremolo/pan effect on the guitar during the chorus and it sort of clashes with the kick drum. At first I thought it was the kick drum that was overpowering the rest of the track but it was actually just the guitar track.

Not bad though, much much better than anything a band I've been in has been able to record.

I really liked it...right around my style of music and very well done. Credge is right that the guitar does kind of clash a bit, but I think that more just the way the recording was done and would sound different in person.

All in all tho very well done, I would buy the album if I heard that song.

Good stuff Elmo, the recording is rough but what comes through is that you can actually sing and that the music is good. Seems like far too much compression and limiting all at the same time on everything. You should have no problem getting gigs.. let us know when your up Yorkshire.

Thats pretty tight

Thanks for the positive comments guy!!, I'll get a link out when we have more :p

Yeah the production. I've heard that too, kick is too loud with too much compression on the track which just floods everything else. I've noticed it but it didn't bug me enough to get the guy to change it. But I probably will tell him :)

Its only a rough track we did to get an idea. We've only been a band about 3 months, so we're getting on our feet. In less than two weeks time we're going to a proper studio for another track. The drums on this track aren't even done properly, its a keyboard hah....

Bully, that's awesome, good to see you on bass :p I love standing in the rain, its a good live capture!

Yeah I just did it so we could hear the track, I never mixed it properly!! If we are going to be showing these to people then I need to make proper mixes really. I just havent had a whole lot of time to be doing it, I thought the plan was for you to re-do some vocals and then I would properly mix that version? I didnt see much point in spending hours mixing a version that we were not using. It is too compressed, but that version was never meant to be a finished product!!!

As far as names go, I have no clue! lol sorry matey!

Hey man,

Got repeated feedback (~6 people) regarding "dude wheres my sign" and I've noticed it too. Overpowering compression (or whatever it is) on the kick drowning out the song too much, mostly a problem in the final chorus. I kinda liked the effect to some degree and wasn't going to mention it but its proving too much for people. If we're gonna put it on the myspace do you think we could reduce it a little? From a range of different sources, I hadn't previously said anything to anyone either.

Also, I really need to name that track.. any ideas??!?!

on that note.. any1 got an idea for the name of the song :p

The singer is married to the drummers sister, he then thought it was a good idea to shag the drummers wife too. Shit hit's the fan.... Spontaneous Band-Combustion ! :|

Dr.Satan 11-27-2009 10:37 PM

Only if you play soft piano music for about 30 seconds and then shift into death metal/screamo

Father Guido 11-28-2009 05:24 PM

Elmo,

Run with your flavor dude. It sounds good for just getting started!! I have played with several nationally known bands over the years, and currently own a 72 track digital recording studio (easier then touring). ;) Too bad you dont live in the U S of A or I could hook you up with some free studio time. I liked what you guys are doing.

Good luck in a "lottery business" such as the music industry is. 8-)
