100 tic rate question

Does FF still have problems with running the game with a tic rate of 100 instead of 66? If so, what kind of issues occur?

Im pretty sure it depends on the engine used, and on the 06 engine it's capped at 66

^^ that would explain why my PC when hosting would never run it at 100. Always seemed to be capped at 66 but never knew why - till now.

The only reason I ask is because NFo servers tell me the tickrate used for Source servers is 100 by default, and Orange Box servers are restricted to 66 max by Valve.

years ago iirc we tested the dev version of ff at 100 tickrate and all sorts of weird stuff happened (like doors flying around the map).

i don't know if any trickery was done to get it running at 100 (or if it wasn't actually at 100 but rather we'd just tried to force the engine to do something that it couldn't) or if it's possible to get the current dev/release versions of ff running at 100, but if possible it would be interesting to try and see if it can be made to work properly and if modern servers can cope with the increased cpu load (i still find that many of the current ff servers can't even provide 66 consistently when they have a fair number of players and action on them). would be good if we could tho.

Hopefully this will come if we make a continued push on code optimisation...
