I’ve been thinking: This forum is based around a war game where we shoot missiles and attempt to kill each other. I’m not really surprised there are arguments nearly on a daily basis. Then I see conversations get moderated; people are warned/banned for a brilliantly written post because they attacked another person’s character. Our members are repressed. They’re soldiers thrown into suits and then when they behave like themselves we ban them. So here’s the compromise. Make a thread. Call it The Arena. No pedo shit. No racism (except jew jokes. Those are fine). By posting in the arena you are stepping into a ring intended for death: hence you subject yourself to verbal attacks and you know what you are getting yourself into. If you get caught fighting outside The Arena, or you attack someone who hasn’t posted in it, then your ass is banned for a period of time. Consider it forum mulching. It will be amazing.
Yay or nay.

That's what D&A is for. You'll notice that there are posts in there that have not been moderated or given infractions. However, if they had been posted in General Discussion, I'd have done it in a heartbeat. If you want to make a "flaming" thread in there, go for it... but we don't need another area specifically for it.
As for posts being moderated and flagged for infractions.... it's been too long in coming. We, the moderators(yes, all of us), have been generally lax about flagging people for flaming... because contrary to popular belief, we don't want to ban people. Our community is small enough, and we want everyones input. That said, far too many threads have gotten out of hand. O-T has next to no presence here anymore, and they still have the most popular server going. Despite what many of you think, Scuzzy did a lot of good things for the game.
Bashing ANY server(or their policies) makes the community look bad. Doesn't matter if it's O-T, Ze's Palace, or Joey's Chaotic Corner(Ok, I made that one up, but you get the idea)... No matter if you like their policies or not, there's no justification to bash them for it. If you don't like a particular server(or their rules)... don't play there. Dividing such a small community only does more damage, and that's something we can ill afford at this point.
So... yes, we did crack down on the flaming. I've noticed that no infractions have been needed since. Everyone has gotten control of themselves, and that makes me happy. I don't mind when people disagree, that's fine.... as long as it stays civil(everywhere but D&A). That's all we ask.
