The Lost Thread (uBeR & Scuzzy Common Ground)

No spoilers, just personal theories please. :) Who's a fan? (note that isn't "Who wants to trash something and fill a thread with shit comments?")

Who's heard of the Garden of Eden theory? Sounds interesting, but there's some shortcomings to it.

Lol wtf Claire in cabin.

wow did i misread the topic title.

whoops

FrenchToast 05-15-2008 03:10 AM

Dude, methinks Jack and Claire are gonna figure out their relations by the end of the season.

Otherwise, I really don't have many theories. The problem with the supernatural aspect of the show, is that you can use it to explain away anything, and I hope the writers don't do that but... whatever.

OMG LOST IS MY ANTI DRUG!
... How the hell to you move an island?

Even more important, can they move me ONTO the island. I need to slap Locke a few times for going from being my fav char, to being an ass hole, to being a good char again.

Also, if Charly doesn't make a camio before the end of this season... I'm going to cry :(

uBeR 05-15-2008 04:11 AM

He's already made plenty with Hugo. That part of the story is sort of lame.

Loche also used to be my fav char. After he went to the Others' camp though he sorta started to suck. He's kind of making a come back now.

Jack's character is a little oveexaggerated, if you know what I mean, lol.

Ihmhi 05-15-2008 10:40 AM

I haven't watched the show. I was much more fond of Jennifer Garner with a machine gun in a bikini.

So is this as good as Alias, or did Abrams drop the ball? Yes, I know it's "addicting" and has a "compelling story" - but is it any good or is it shit?

Yeah, there was something fucked up about that. She would never have left the kid... if she was alive. Do you think Jack's dad was brought back to life on the island (Because his coffin was empty) or do you think he was always alive and worked for the Dharma Initiative and they faked his death? There has got to be "something" that happens between Jack and her before they leave the island, considering how he handles being around Aaron.

Did you notice how the guys gun jammed when he tried to kill Michael? (Did the gun jam or did the bullet just bounce off your skull?)

Yeah, mine took especially during the hatch days. I also think it's interesting how they are getting us to feel sympathetic toward Ben, even though he's a mass murderer.

Do you think Ben's going to have Saiyd kill Penny? Think Desmond will be there to stop him?

I think you've already answered your own question.

bokko 05-15-2008 05:37 PM

My take is that "the island" is appearing as Jack's dad and Claire, they're both dead. Jacob too is an apparition, perhaps one of the black rock crew. Then we see Jack's father appear in a flash forward, which makes me believe the oceanic six are really trapped in some kind of a fake reality. This show always keeps you guessing and that's why I love it. People who don't apreciate that kind of mental activity cry a lot when they watch Lost.

In my opinion the show is like being jerked off by the hottest girl ever, except she stops right before you finish and walks away for a week. Every time she comes back she's slightly less attractive and occasionally dressed like a clown.

Considering Jack's reaction to Aaron off-island I think he'll find that out before he leaves. Chances are he'll see his dad and her together.

I LOVE the show but have no clue WTF to think right now.

I can only guess two ways to "move" the island.

* Using the magnetism of the island to literally move it
* Using the magnetism of the island to either hide it or make it appear to be elsewhere.

I want to know about the time/space travel. Leaving the island already messes with time but Ben appeared in the desert in a coat. Seems like some sort of teleportation that is a little.... quirky.

Also, Desmond and the boat crew guy left the island with a slightly bad course. That had their consciousnesses flashing back into their own past. Perhaps, leaving the island at various directions can relocate a person into other times/places.

Yes, I was utterly confused by Desmon'd episode with the ship and flashback things. I also wonder why time moves faster on the island.

I don't think they are going to "move" the island. A friend and I had a good conversation about this at lunch. You can only find the island by taking a certain course on a specific heading. Otherwise you go right by without seeing it. If you're off by X you miss it complete or you can't escape the island's perimeter. Now, remember, Michael and Walt left on a course of 325, the people from Widmoore's(sp) boat are using 305. They are able to get to and from the island, but at a price, insanity to a point. (just our thoughts) Anyway, I think to move the island you need to move the coordinate constant to FIND the island. Maybe Ben did that from 325 to 305 after Michael left and the only reason Widmoore found them was getting the radio becon to work using the phone.

By far my favorite episode this season was the Desmond flashback episode, I think it was the most revealing and gave a great picture as to what is actually going on.

There has to be some sort of teleportation thing. We first saw Naomi in the desert and she found something with a dharma initative emblem on it. I'm pretty sure it was the same desert.

Yeah, following the heading or bad things happen. :)

I don't believe that it does. My friend had an interesting observation, not sure how it ties though. When Desmond was on the island he was able to see into the future. When he left the island he was seeing the past.

Now, when the mercenaries left the island they moved into the PAST because the doctor was still alive on the boat. In a sense they entered a temporal paradox, they knew the doctor was dead and how, but it hadn't happened yet. However, when the rocket left the ship to go to the island it traveled into the FUTURE, because it took longer to get from the boat to the island then it should have. I think the degree at which you enter or leave the island has a good deal to do with the temporal offset.
