Final Fantasy XIII
I picked up a used copy for my PS3 on the spur of the moment today, and I am enjoying it so far.
It's pretty good, but there's a bunch of stuff that bugs me. For one thing, I have been able to get through nearly all of the battles by just mashing the X button. It also took me about two and a half hours to get a grip as to what the hell was going on story wise. The visuals are pretty good, but I can't help but still feel a bit underwhelmed. Still, I am enjoying it. I suspect that "mash the X button" formula is because the enemies this early in the game are so easy (it's the same way with every other Final Fantasy game I've played). Also, now that I do understand the story, it looks like it may be engaging, although I still have to play more. Well, that's my take. Anyone else tried it yet? |
Haven't gotten it yet, but it looks promising. I haven't played any since 7 and 8 because I don't have a PS2 and my PS3 isn't backwards compatible.

FF13 makes me cry. It's a very very linear game.
I have all characters maxed out, even that is linear. |
Yea, it is somewhat linear, but I don't view that as a totally bad thing. It helps move the story along.
As I suspected, the encounters are starting to become a bit challenging now. I'm at the fight with Odin, and he kicks the living crap out of me within seconds. |

Took me about 18 tries, but when you don't really focus on the death timer or the Gestalt Meter, you tend to fare a lot better; at least in my experience. |
Also change ATB Speed to Slow. Gives you a lot of extra time.

I'm excited about it, but haven't played yet. Not sure I'm ready tbh, 12 pissed me of b/c the hunts were fucking bullshit...
