My first map (ff_untitled - updated: 4/23/07)

Well I started the remake and I am saving it to my flash drive from now on. Heres the first screenshot of the new design, more to come!

its really hard to know if its a good map from just the screens but i think it looks a little bit different from other maps and that is good!

interesting.

looks like the flag room is a kind of pit? kinda badlands styley?

BumGravy 04-21-2007 10:13 AM

Not too shabby, cant wait to see more!

I cannot see the layout properly, but check out some of the links on this page:

Mapping Theory and Gametype Tips in particular are helpful.

Updates

Update: So I textured the engineer deck and the flag room now. I also added some architecture to the deck. Use the link from the first post to see the new pictures or click the following links:

Looks great, especially how you've managed those industrial textures and made them fit in well.

The architecture looks great too.
Can't wait to see more!

A non flat roof which arches away from the walls would be good, but please dont make it high poly one or two brushes will do. You may want to consider adding individual arches on the roof with glass pannels in between the arches it will give a nice effect

Ill give it a shot. I still have trouble here and there with vertex manipulation but then again this is my first ever map. Thanks for the post!

There's no way this is your first ever map (<- that's a compliment :p )

When I say first ever, I mean first I am willing to show to public. I will say with all honesty that I have only been experimenting with hammer for 3 weeks and I have thrown out 2 other maps that haven't met my standards. Thank you for the compliment though, I must say your work has impressed me greatly. I currently am working on the main "lobby" of the base which will include the spawns and the main entrance to the building. I am also working on the ceiling. I really like own3r's idea and I am doing my best to make it happen. Cheers everyone!

Unfortunately my HD crashed last night deleting all my hours of work... I was getting ready to update the gallery but now it is too late. So I guess its time to redesign. A moderator is free to delete this thread for the time being if they would like. Sorry for the inconvenience everyone :|

nodnarb 04-23-2007 08:51 PM

they won't. just update it after you get more work done.
