SpeedBit Video Accelerator

Don't think this is "omg look at this!" because it isn't. But groovy enough to tell others like me who have to put up with vidoes taken stupidly long ammounts of time to load.


I found an old cd with some backup bits on from when I was on dail-up which had SpeedBit Download Accelorator Plus. Thought to myself "heh, wonder if that's still around", which it is. That's when I came across this.

Yes, the acceleration is surprisingly noticeable.

I force YT videos to higher qualty (fmt=18 adder) because on some vids YT does not say it can be higher q when it can. Anyway for whatever reason it doesn't seem to do it's thing on HQ vids with me. That was a little dissapointing, but still worth keeping.

Some videos are available in higher quality even though youtube doesn't say so.

The sound also seems better IMO.
And I'm not a big audio guy...

Youtube announced the release of high def videos, but only for some. What is deemed available to be viewed in HD is not up to anyone but youtube at this point.

Setting it to automatically detect and play in HD finds all videos that have the option, and sets them to HD. If a video doesn't have the option, use &fmt=18 on the end of it.

Which is why I use an auto &fmt=18 adder.

That "SpeedBit Download Accelorator Plus" sounds like a huge suspicious scam.

Well it isn't.

I did say it works surprisingly well.
Isn't working with Firefox 3.0.1 or on HQ videos. (atm?) Edit: beta works on standard q vids.

The Fasterfox extension can probably do the same thing.
