FF crashes at startup, in every version of the mod
 

Hi guys.

I have a problem that I can't fix : Fortress Forever crashes on startup, as soon as he tries to load. All I see is the title background before it says "hl2.exe has stopped working". I tried to run the Source SDK Base 2006 AND 2007, and delete the gamestartup mp3s, but none of those techniques work.

I'm on Windows 7, that must explain something.

Also, FF is the ONLY game/mod I can't run on Steam. Everything else works perfectly.

So, what can it be ? Thanks for your advices. :thumbsup:

Nope.

Source SDK Base needs to be installed BEFORE you install Fortress Forever, else it won't work. So try uninstalling FF, exit Steam, and since you already have Source SDK Base installed now, just reinstall FF and open Steam again and this time it should work.

I've already done that, it doesn't change the situation one bit. Thanks though.

From what you've said other source games load fine. Mmm I am at a bit of a loss. Have you tried closing all other non-essential programs down? I've got nothing useful :( Perhaps someone will have some good ideas.

Finally found what to do.

Basically, I forced the game to play at 1680x1050 with the launch options : "-w 1680 -h 1050" and then it worked.

1050, that makes no sense at all

yes it does. 1680 * 1050.. normal 16:10 res.
