Fancy sfx but biology is a mickey mouse science.
They are just trying to get people to study a rubbish subject by using fancy graphics, because lets face it there's no real appeal to do it.
I'm not biased at all I've just got an exam in it in a few hours... and darn there's so much Latin its crazy here's a good'n
"cholecystokinin pancreazynem"

i can see plenty of applications. turning 2d into 3d is just one. the study of the face can lead to better robotic faces..... i cba listing more.

Actually, i've been thinking about sounds and game development. and the only thing that goes fast and is almost perfect is the sounds, snice we get them from reality. everything else is made inside the computer. so this kind of technology would really rock ass if got off good. maby scan in a person and just touch him up in 3ds max or whatever = much faster development.

But that is really crazy, i hope that it gets out on the market soon.

3d scanning has been around for a while.

Imagine the possibilies of making historical films this way, faces perfectly generated from old pictures of lets say old moviestars, long gone presidents etc.

Sure this could be done by hand but this teqnique generates geometry, skin tones and everything really fast it seems plus the included facial animations.

The frowns looked sort of goofy but DAMN. Other than that one tiny detail this thing is amazing. The Mona Lisa at the end really sealed it.

o_bubbles 01-28-2007 09:23 PM

They didn't show Mona Lisa's face from the right side! I'm sceptical!!!

o_nezumi 01-30-2007 11:35 AM

Man! They had a chance to finally wipe that smile off the Mona Lisa and they didn't!

I'm pissed, but the technology is astounding.
