It's spyware. Run a spyware scanner. And search the internets for removal tools if necessary.

Remember, the best antivirus/spyware/etc. is your brain.

Have Spybot S&D?

Load up safe mode and then try to hit up those links.

When your computer is booting, tap F8 like it's the B button and you're playing Track & Field on the NES again. A menu will come up with a buttload of options, select "Safe Mode with Networking". It loads the very minimum of stuff needed for Windows to work.

Odds are the virus won't load in this environment. If it does... well then we have a problem there.

I got the exact same thing like 1 week ago. Ad-aware doesn't remove it. Is it new?

Right now I'm holding the computer together with Kerio, but looks like I'll be reinstalling the system soon.

Also, I grabbed a new update for ad-aware today, will scan tomorrow and see how it goes.

Heard of it too, damn nasty one, make sure to check your credit card bills!

On several websites describing this problem, people recommended running Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Obviously the virus will block its website, but you should be able to google for a mirror, or use another computer (like I did) - or use safe mode per Ihmhi's suggestion.

I just ran it, worked like charm, cleaning up all this mess.

I cannot convey just how good it feels.

A live CD would be your best bet for doing a scan.

I always have My Documents in my profile mapped to another drive.
Also, I periodically image my system volume.

Good luck. I know your frustrations.
