motd
I have heard that FF will not allow the standard motd to be displayed, especially the new HTML version of the motd. Is it true that servers will be unable to post a good list of their rules and server information in the motd? I did search, didn't see anything that stood out about this subject. I was kind of expecting the Hidden:Source method where the standard source motd is displayed and then you go into game setup... is this not the case?
Thanks, Scuzzy |
Uhhhhh... well, I'll take the bullet here. The current set-up shows the MotD and map information all together on one screen, and the space for the MotD is smaller than what's normally available in HL2. HTML is, as far as I know, disabled, but there's still room enough for even O-T's rules.

I've heard OT server has some very strict rules...
Playing there gotta suck. Sorry man, that's how I think.. The only rules we need is: cr_sniper -1 cr_hw 1 cr_pyro -1 cr_demo 2 and we're done :] |
Wow, way to completely sap the fun out of FF.

When servers set up for FF can I ask that restrictions on things like bunny hopping are not put in place until the game has been out for a few months it sucks to have servers where people cannot play the game to it's full potential. Same goes for clanservers banning pyro.

Some of your small minds just need to realise that different server and game environments suit different players. I for one would only play on TFC servers with no snipers or pyros and limited classes such as HW and demo, why? because i like organised clan style play. I do however realise that some people prefer the exact opposite and there should be servers to cater for both, if you don't like that style of play don't play on that server. Suggesting servers configs/ class limits from TFC is a bit silly until we actually play FF and decide whether classes still need limiting.

Just a hint, but I have this suspicion that pyro is going to be used in FF clan matches.

I miss the Half-life 1 MOTD in the console window, pre-Steam. Was always fun to read while the game was loading.

For others, as DG said, everyone is welcome to try us out and make their own judgments based upon their own playing experience. We like a team oriented mature environment. We run a 32 slot server, but we do limit the classes a bit: - Snipers are limited to 3 per team, (clan members are allowed to make themselves sniper at any time above the limits though) - Heavys are limited to 2 per team. |

I've never heard of clan servers banning pyro's... call me naive, but why do that? |

HEY BACK ON TOPIC NOW KAY LOL.
Personally I like FF's current approach to the MOTD. Some big ass HTML graphic coded by some shitbag with no skills in coding or graphic arts is lame as all Hell. By reducing the space available to them, that will hopefully cut down on the idiots. Oh, btw, of course the MOTD screen can scroll, it just actually takes up a much smaller portion of the screen real estate. |
