Fortress Forever Web UI
|
Dude, that's pretty fucking badass.
|
while i really like the current theme (the grays) it isn't as functional or shiny looking as what you just posted nice job.
|
I have the best boner right now.
|
I said it before earlier, but...
I love how all 9 classes are shown, to get people used to how the characters look in their full models, how there's a game biography to the left, and how you list the current pickup game. Now, I don't like how there's no FF logo anywhere , how there's no reference to the FF Steam group anywhere, and how the Wiki still doesn't have a tab at the top. (and if it's hosted directly on the website, it should have a tab. Would be a good incentive to actually begin to improve and work on it, which is something that I've been pushing in my time in the community) |
Wow, that looks incredible!
A definite improvement on all fronts. |
web 2.0 shiny gradients and big fonts  /unpupular opinion
|
yeah what moosh said!!!!!!!!!!! i support anyone who is against rice.
|
It would be cool if there was a section that was "Gameplay" that just had gameplay videos about certain classes, maps etc. Showed the classes roles, what the weapons were good for and such.
|
Yeah, there should also definitely be some sort of area for downloads from the game to custom player models, maps, class scripts, vox, etc.

What Users Want
What I plan on Doing
Class Pages When a user Selects a Class, then a Weapon a short video will be played to show the user how each style is used. User will be able to cycle through weapons, can do 1,2,3,4,5 buttons to simulate in-game experience. I wanted to keep this Dev only, but I didn't get enough feedback. Keep posting suggestions and I'll weed out ones with bad UX. |
Wow, sounds great! :)
And here my friend was saying how crappy the current website is... this will show him. *edit* As per a suggestion, this doesn't have to do specifically with the website, but a new trailer for 2.5 and for the game in general would be a welcome addition. Also, a "how to get started" section might be awesome, with tutorials and possibly who to contact for help and such. It looks like something like this is getting implemented already though, so hats off! Final note: maybe a small section on competitive play within a tutorial section would help newer players understand the reasoning and logic (MADNESS!) behind pickups in general. |

That is true :P,but this way I get the community's feelings and not just the devs, not blaming anyone, god damn non-jews! I should say, "I was looking for a different type of feedback" |
You might be a jew, and i might hate everything you are/stand for, but that is damn sexy. Finally, yer doing some shit your s'posed to be doin! ;)
You have received 1 bagel(s) |
wait ricey actually does stuff here.
what i would add while it might be considered trivial i think it would look nice and be a nice touch. would to make the class in next to the video box random or somehow interactive to the website. (assuming that stays in the final design.) the buttons don't make them to small i like large buttons. me and motto/kube were talking and an idea for a database of sorts for maps downloads (and models and skins). this makes it easier for the server owner as right now I wouldn't even know where to begin looking for all the maps. (community sponsored maps as well.) also thought of a models and skins database as well. you know those cool skins and models seem to just disappear after a few weeks :( why not have a more permanent place for them, could be managed by a community voting system. ;) |
I'll be making the smaller by 10px(pixels), height.
|
This is somewhat unrelated, but what about integrating the FF wiki ingame? How about integrating IRC ingame?
For example, on the main menu there could be a option to press "Guides" or "Information" or whatever, and it could take you to an easy to navigate wiki page, right where a player can see map information, class information, general guides etc. And IRC where they can connect straight to #ff.pickup ingame. Man i wish this game was popular :S |

I firmly stand behind the in-game IRC. |

another thing I've seen done is like a small chat box usually at the top of forums where if your logged in you can comment in a chat box. creating some interaction on the forums when people are on even if there isn't anything that much to post about.:thumbsup: as for in game irc eh cool idea i'd love to see it but it wouldn't make or break the game for me, or really even excite me. however since pickups are organized in irc this could be a really useful feature and well worth implementing i might add. |
