Fallout: New Vegas
Soooo, has anyone grabbed it? I meant to buy the Steam pre-order pack but forgot so now I don't get my caravan special gear... :(
Not that I really care, I bought it mainly for my kid and I'm sure I'll beat it a few times once this semester winds down. I was disappointed in it graphically; you'd think that after 3 years they would have pulled a Valve and updated the engine, smoothed things out, made it more-pimper. Still, looks fun and I'm fairly excited, hoping I can get enmeshed with the world again. |
I'd wait a bit, it's extremely buggy. I've had it crash a few times on my 360 already, and FPS can drop quickly in simple areas.
Oh, if you played FO2, all I have to say is MARCUS! |
and as I posted that post it crashed.
|
LoL, I guess its a big enough issue that they've patched it already. I got it for PC this time around though - the addons for Fallout3 were so bad it locked my PS3 up regularly while playing.
|
I don't like it at all to be honest, and will probably never buy it.
I don't even consider it a 'new game', it's just Fallout 3 loaded with some mods here and there, some new gameplay aspects, cool, and new UI with other shit renamed into Fallout New Vegas. Nothing I haven't played before. If the engine is still shitty, and crashes just as much as Fallout 3, it's not even worth pirating. |
Yea I keep reading about New Vegas everywhere, apparently it's not ready yet. I think I'll just end up waiting for the inevitable Steam Christmas sales to pick it up.

It's not just a FO3 Exp Pack. That's like saying, FO2 was nothing but a Exp to FO1. and that FoT was nothing but a new game mode. I get a crash every 8-10 hours of straight(Sometimes longer) gameplay, some FPS Lag, but that is it. The only way a Fallout Game will be considered new is if they changed the gameplay(aka FO3), change the story to before the Great War, or during the Great War. |

I'd say 75% ready, 25% being the stupid shit that happens. It's very much playable, and if you enjoyed FO2, you'll love FO:NV. The Perks System is better, more like the original two. Not the best picture but; http://www.3pxl.com/rex.jpg |

It really is similar to FO2, I've been loving it. Well, as similar as you can get with the mutations FO3 brought to the game.

These guys are suggesting some tweaks to allow the game to not fuck up so much. Potentially useful, however I can't test any of them :/ |
It's hard to have a VATs System in place and a FPS, but at least in NV they toned down the Godlikeness of it.
Grim Reaper's Sprint only gives back 20 AP instead of a full bar. I will say this Friendly Help + Miss Fortune + Mysterious Stranger = OMG OP. Yea, I'm NCR and I pretty much walked into The Fort and raped everything. Having Boonie(His Side Quests are sad as fuck) and Rex helps a lot as well. Oh, if you haven't already try fighting a deathclaw lol. Yea. |

I took back what I said, the game's pretty interesting.
Cazadores (mutated giant wasps) straight up rape Deathclaws. They're a force to be reckoned with. |

Go to Quarry Junction (Above Sloan). Go fight the Mother Deathclaw and the Alpha Male. or go here http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Deathclaw_Promontory :D |

Did you know a blind deathclaw will kick your ass just as fast as one with 20/20 vision?
That motherfucker... |

I was level 5 sporting a half repaired cowboy repeater. ED-E did take one for the team and I got to run away. But he caught me.
