Google Chrome: The new browser
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/...n-browser.html
http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/09/01...indows-killer/ Oh shit, right? Can't wait to try it out. |
Ya, lets give google more information about us..
Thanks, i'll just wait until the government decides to take the patriot act to the internet and restrict everything to having to get permission to make a website. |
Whatever you do you're always going to have to give information to someone anyways...
|
I'm not really seeing what differentiates this from other browsers. Stability? I've been using Opera for 3 months and I don't think it has crashed once. Better memory usage? OK, but I haven't really had problems with that either. Faster? Maybe, I'll just have to wait and see. The new interface ideas seems to be pretty similar to things Opera already has... tabs as the primary component, clever search bar, new tabs page, popup blocking...
Maybe it'll be pretty cool (a lot of Google things are) but I'm struggling to see a "killer app". If nothing else, maybe the familiarity of Google wiill drag more people away from IE. |
If you can't see what differentiates Chrome from other browser.... I dunno man...

More competition = better for the consumer. Great news, and it will be interesting to try it out.
|
Wicked, when's it come out?
|
Hmm, I was highly skeptical when I first heard of it, but now that I've read into it some I might try it out.

Ya Same Here

I'll try it of course (when they get around to more than just Windows), and more competition is a good thing. I'm just trying to figure what the big "wow" features are meant to be. |
zomggoogle!
|
Oh well...
I'm excited. I see alot of things to be excited about from that comic. ALOT. Did you understand all the comic? Cause man... there was alot of nice things in there. What exactly would be a "wow" feature to you? Browsers will never cook, you know... :) |
I didn't understand much of the technical stuff in there, but here's what I got from it really clearly:
For someone like you ekiM, you're a lot smarter than the average user. You know what not to click on, what not to open etc. etc., so that keeps you clear of viruses and malware and yadda yadda yadda. The average user is retarded, so this program should be awesome for them, and way better than the shitstorm that is IE, and keep them clean. THat's good enough for me. |
Just the fact that google seems to understand that what's important is speed, optimization, stability and clean design, the opposite of what microsoft showed with vista in fact, that's fucking exciting to me.
If google were to release a new OS, which is exactly what is coming in the near future imo with the arrival of this new browser, that would probably be the best thing to happen in the computer industry since like... a very very long time. |

The speed and stability of Opera have impressed me. I don't know how much faster Chrome might be, I will have to wait and see. Can't get much more stable than "never crashes". I was impressed by how fast I can navigate Opera without a mouse. I don't know what new interface stuff Chrome will have. Maybe if it was a lot better that would make me switch. Opera already has the 9 favorite sites thing. |

I'm using it right now...
So far, the performance is a lot better than my Firefox 3 both with and without Fasterfox. |

This is a great browser, from what I can tell. How about we get a Shoop of the xkcd Firefox comic for Google Chrome? |

You can download it already? |
