So, are they gone forever? What the hell happened? Haven't they been around for many, many years? Does the TFC community have another place to hang out?

Looks to me like hax. I hope they've saved backups of their DB/Tracker.

The person who owned it the past few years is a power tripping whore. He took down the forums and sold them to a car forum owner. Various members have tried to buy the archives off of Rasp but he will not do it no matter what the price. Ironically he never even played tfc so I have no idea why it was even put in his hands.

Meh. The Cats was never a place I spent much time. My gut reaction is that it was largely a bunch of immature asses looking to piss for distance and volume on each other. Same with Something Awful. May be unfair...but that's what I recall...

As much as you may or may not have fit in with the community there's no arguing that an important piece of gaming history was lost entirely because of one asshole's power trip.

Rasp didn't even play TFC. He had/has no right to destroy the last remnants of a gaming community that he literally had no part in creating.

I have gone to the catacombs forums every day of my life for almost 11 years. It was my online home. The people on that forum were part of a tight-nit niche gaming community, one of THE OLDEST online gaming communities, we all knew each other, trusted opinions, could go to each other for honest feedback and support.

Now it's fucking gone. All because Rasp stopped taking his bi-polar medication. The fucking bitch wouldn't even sell the forum to anyone in the community, he sold it to some forum squatter just to spite everyone.

Team Fortress Classic is a game that will forever hold a special place in my heart. I wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for that game and those forums... now there isn't even a god damn archive to reminisce over.

Pretty much the lamest thing anyone could do. Why was Rasp even given control in the first place?

"Joe" or "Harm" (I Forget) owned the forums originally and then sold it to Rasp (like 7 years ago?) because I assume they didn't want to bother running the site anymore and he was a willing bidder. Rasp was/is an IRCOP and that's how he got involved with the community in the first place iirc.

Yeah, the FF site was run on the same server as The Catacombs before it changed ownership; I remember when it happened. Sucks that it ended up getting put into the worst possible hands. I guess we're lucky we moved the FF site away from there (not that we were given much of a choice at the time, though; we were just told we needed to transfer from their servers).

These forums now, I guess...
