Fortress Forever by WaKKa

It's been a while since I played with video editing software and I have only started playing FF this week, but some great pickups have been had and so I decided to make a sketchy/rough/experiment.

With how much I am enjoying FF this probably won't be my last movie, sorry guys :p

PartialSchism 08-03-2009 10:21 PM

You should be sorry.

Desyphur 08-04-2009 01:41 AM

Not bad man. Better than anything I could do.

GeoKill-----> 08-04-2009 04:15 AM

That was nice... and trippy

Paft 08-04-2009 06:43 AM

It did feel "sketchy/rough" but indeed a little trippyish and a laugh. Music made it funny.

Encourages me to do one. Never do a video anything ever.

May I ask some technical stuff about this video? What compression did you use for that video and how big is the video file for HD?

Good video.

wakka 08-04-2009 12:47 PM

Compression is WMV, 6Mb (which allows for 30fps). The quality can easily be alot better but I wasnt for wasting time with "startmovie" for such a rushed scratchy project so I just used 60FPS fraps... good enough for Youtube. Took me about an hour and I am addicted to Justice so it was fun to make!

Oh and it is 87Mb

Nice :)

Did you use VirtualDub? Because I usually do this:
See some of my videos (not my gameplay demos but FF videos):

Somehow youtube always messes up the quality :(

You sure you are following all the guidelines

hm, this made me thinking:

Quote:

Frame Rate

The video frame-rate should be the same as the original where possible - up-sampling from a 24fps original can cause judder artifacts for example. For film sources a 24 fps or 25 fps progressive master yields the best results while videos that have had a re-sampling transfer process applied - such as Telecine pulldown - often result in a lower quality video.
I think I have some testing to do here. I also just read that videos can be no larger than 2GB and no more than 10 minutes in length. I thought it was 1 GB.

Ok...

wakka 08-05-2009 12:28 PM

I go from in-game to fraps to sony video vegas then render. so that's 60fps high quality to 30fps high quality, not much room for loss as something I have always made sure when rendering is that the output is a ratio of the input, i.e 30fps = half 60fps. If you want really high quality you would be better watching CSS movie how-to's as they really do reach the pinnacle of movie quality. I would recommend the rpk trailer as a sample of what can be obtained.

However, I am far from a rendering master... I have not made a movie in over 2years so I am sure someone else will prove more useful in this topic.

very nice editing on the avi!

moosh 08-22-2009 03:44 PM

Nice video. How'd you do the sparkly effects and what's the name of the song? ;)

wakka 08-31-2009 04:30 PM

cheers, the first song is by pendulum and the second is "justice - newjack" the sparkly effects are just standard filters within sony vegas! The ones right at the end are only in vegas 9 as far as i know, cant remember off the top of my head unfortunately :)

Wakka takes control ! Nice movie m8 !

Lt Llama 09-10-2009 07:14 AM

This film made me chuckle, a feel good FF movie. I really liked the sync between music and cuts, and the tempo changes, and the slomo parts. I would be a die hard fan if you kept developing this style of editing.
