I just got a new laptop for christmas, a HP DV6000t. It came with a shitload of bloatware preinstalled garbage, and it took me about 30 minutes to get rid of all the shit. Now I finally have all of it gone and every program installed and I want to make a backup.

has anyone used norton ghost 2003 before? I'm under the impression that anytime I want to format I can just restore that ghost image, correct? Can I burn the image to a cd/dvd or does it need to be a partition on the hard drive?

I think it would depend on how much you're backing up...obviously it's presumptuous to think that Norton Ghost can compress your 200GB of porn onto a 4GB DVD.

Ghost is awesome.

I recommend making a ghost boot disc, using it to boot up, and backing up to an external USB 2.0 hard drive.

Then, if your lappy ever dies, you simply plug back in hard drive and boot to ghost disc and can copy over the image and your computer is just like it was when you made the ghost image.
