How messy is your desk?

I know there is a thread for "posting your pad" but this maybe a little more entertaining. Anyone can show off how nice their pad is (the rich seem to always win), but it takes a real man to show off how dirty and messy their pad is! Plus rich and poor can win here!

I don't have any pictures, but I can describe it a little. I think the messiest my desk has ever been was a couple years ago, during my college years. I remember one specific time on teamspeak, describing how messy it was. At that time I counted 17 mountaindew/orange sunkist cans either empty or mostly empty, on my desk, coupled with about 7 bottles. Not to mention all the bottle lids.

Unfortunately since then, I have upgraded my bedroom furniture a little and I actually keep it clean now. How depressing it is to get older!

I don't have a digital camera but it's usually covered in reinstallation and repair discs, manuals, printed trouble shooting guides, and all of it is for my computer since I'm in the process of trying to fix the damn thing. Over 4 months. It's that messed up.

I recently cleaned mine as well, but the shit's piling up steadily. Cans and little dishes mostly, the occasional CD, writing utensils, controllers, headphones... I've got a ratchet for some reason. And a pair of scissors. A two-month old can of Ice Breakers Sours. Fingernail file. Little metallic keys you use to jump a circuit in older cars to test the check engine light. I've got like 20 of those.

Haha yeah i do. I recently moved in with my gf, and doing so i also moved out from the nest for the first time, since i had to buy 99% of my furniture new i couldnt afford to splash out on some fancy expensive desk or shit like that. The ikea furniture seen in that pic cost me like 80 bucks and works like a charm :P

However, trust me when i say that once i actually have a job and a steady income i wont have much ikea furniture around :P

yes, COH is a very fun game.

the doll is something I made years ago. I found it in an alley just as a dirty old doll so I put a bunch of nails in it and put a plastic skirt on it. I call it my baby pinhead doll.

dartch maul is from a slurpee top, its sitting on top of my blank dvd and cdr's. the skull is rubber and glow in the dark, under it is a hand made chinesey box my woman made that i carry "stuff" in. to the right of the box is a "Living Dead Dolls" collectors coffin with nosferatu and his lady. Also another gift. I just dont get why people keep giving me all this vampire stuiff :P

oh and the degree is one of a few certifications I have. That one certifies me as a Network Professional S+

Way back when I used to have a messy desk, (college days - with 2 roommates) we saved up something of 600-1000 mountaindew cans. We then build a sort of castle on the dining room table and it fell over. So we jumped on them and took pictures. You know the McDonalds playpen with all the plastic balls? Replace them with MD cans, thats what it was like!

If only I could find those pictures! They were great.

As ugly as that setup is, I love it for the amount of music equipment you have in there. Reminds me of my friends comp room (Drumset, 4 electrics, 2 bass, accoustic, a bunch of Line6 amps/cabs or whatever, and a huge ass footboard thing in the middle of the room on the floor) but more organized, and with a better computer.

na, the CRT's for the fucking huge pc next to it - my old one. i now use it for developing stuff on, like PCB designs, schematics, and embedded programming. dual pcs is one better than dual monitors. i have a third down there, but thats a 733 i use as a server occasionally when i wanna play with linux. has ubuntu or sommin on there.

as for the antec case, i'm not sure whether i'd recommend them on or not. while is nice and quiet, the supplied fans are just crap (the bearings have already gone in one fan), and not to mention the whole thing itself is fucking heavy, and is not compatible with modular power supplies because of space restrictions. you also have to watch the length of your cables, and it scratches quite willingly. its a very thin layer of silver on top

Somethings going to have to budge when my 19" widescreen turns up, can't fit a 19" widescreen with a secondary 17" LCD alongside a 17" iMac.

iMac's don't work with VESA's, the Acer monitors will, but i'm not a fan of drilling into that wall, its an old old terrace house and half the building will probably fall down.

I haven't really used the new iMacs that much. Do they have video out? Cause you could get a KVM switch and use just the new monitor and that other one you have up there and switch between the PC and the iMac.

It has mini-DVI out, so I'd need to buy an adaptor from apple for it for mini-DVI to VGA/DVI then an extender cable as the one apple gives is like 10cm long.

Plus the Mac is pretty to look at. I think I'll just move it onto the table I have next to my bed and use it as a TV/Media player thing.

I got this vesa wall bracket for free cause of some 3d shit im doing and i just found out that you have to buy an adapter for it (apple cinema display) to be vesa compatible.. apple are really good at taking your money. It said that it was vesa compatible and all that jazz but yeah.. only after you buy the extra adapter.

Whats annoying is the old G5 iMac's were VESA compatible, the stands were removeable and you could buy an adaptor to fit in to it.

The new core duo ones like mine (its one of the first 17" iMac's and so has an x1600 & 1gb RAM not dedicated gfx, whoever thought that change was an idiot) have a fixed stand that cannot be removed without taking the whole machine to pieces. Frustrating!

If the stand could come off it would be 10x more portable, could slide it in a big laptop bag and hulk it around easier. Would wipe the floor with most laptops.

Edit: It seems the new 24" iMac's have a removeable stand and a vesa adaptor :@

The highlighted books are all Terry Pratchett's Diskworld books. The one laying down in front of the others is Wintersmith, which wasn't half as good as A Hat Full of Sky. The orange book just behind the others is Good Omens, which is a superb book by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

I always read in bed, which is like 3 feet from my computer, and I read when I'm waiting around for something to load/compile/whatever. And most of the rest of the time too.
