View Full Version : [REQUEST] Conversion of TFC Player models over to FF

I'm not even sure this can be done, with the skeletons and all, but I would love to have the option to use TFC models that have been ported to FF, preferably to look better(higher res). If it can be done, is the conversion process an easy one?

I am not implying you don't like FF's models, but I do like them. I don't have that corny and dumb noobish feeling like I do with TFC's newer ones.

Yep the new TFC models. I started playing TFC the day it came out, meaning when Casbah was released, so I have no previous likenesses towards the old TFC models. I love the new TFC models. Especially Soldier, Medic, and HW Guy.

AFAIK, FF's Medic is way more similar to TF2's than TFC's, where he actually is a Combat Medic. Same applies for the Sniper, who actually looks like he is in a warzone.

Also, camo face with backpack Soldier = win.

Last, this is just me, but sunglasses + headset, full clothes camo Scout > FF's hi-tech Scout > TF2's bonker.

Were you wanting these to use their original animations or FF's animations?

In the screenshot above, I have him using the FF animations because the engine has certain sequences it calls to the player that the TFC model doesn't have.

Either can be done though I would suppose, up to you.

Hmm I guess it depends.

Which are the animations that the TFC models don't play? Also, if using the originals, do they recover Jimmy legs too? (This may be the determinant factor ;D)

Well if it's not more difficult, then TFC animations, otherwise, FF animations should be fine.

Well I've tried several times using the original animations and they just won't play correctly and there are still several missing that FF uses.

I'm going to have to use the FF anims, which unfortunately means I have to do the rigging and team-colored textures myself:-P

Anyways, should be done today.

Unsure why neck is turned sideways at all times, but I think we're going to have to deal with it. I think there are some misnamed bones between the player source itself and the shared animations.

Reminds me of that guy in Men In Black that has an alien under his skin. It's awesome that you can do this type of stuff, but it feels rather unnatural. Ducking, you always look down, and the legs fold like paper plates. It's really weird. Fix the skeleton stuffs and you got yourself a winning model. Not sure how much work would go into that though.

The thin leg thing is from having a low-poly model on a complex skeleton.

May have to drop this project just because the turned head thing.

I will have the colors fixed by the time I do all of the classes, but thanks.

As I thought, the source files skeleton was incorrectly named compared to shared animations. I have fixed the turned head thing and I've also altered the leg assignments to make them not be flat, you'll just have to deal with a weird looking knee.

Edit: Something's wrong with his neck. I'm at work so I don't have screenies, but the left side of his neck is fucked. Not sure if that has to do with his head that was turning sideways previously.

Ragdoll fixed along with other minor things I saw. This is just a patch for the model, you will need the materials from my earlier link if you didn't already get it.

As always, report back findings and maybe I can finally get the other classes done if this has no issues.

Ragdoll works great, although I had to turn it from fast to normal on how quickly they disappear. Fantastic job man. Only thing I see wrong is the pulsating neck.

Some of the classes still look purple-ish even though their materials are blue, dunno why but I'll fix that later.

I haven't checked out this pack, but would it be possible to have the old TFC models done? I was never a fan of the newer/steam models from TFC. :shock:

Could i request the RPG be ported from tfc. If at all possible make it look ingame like it did in tfc at fov 120.

Only thing I miss is that the ragdolls don't bounce around =/ Oh well, all for a cool looking Scout/Sniper/Soldier/Medic.

Awesome job, I think I've been getting a fps boost as well. These should be included as an option to use in the next patch, along with 1st generation tfc, team fortress, and any other fortress game I'm missing, hence the name ... "fortress forever" :) . Make it happen devs!

actually i'd like to know if there is a stupidly easy way of updating TFC models to FF... i have some models slightly different from those... they are cell-shaded and a little bit brighter.
i'd like to see them on FF, at least once, for testing.

Best models are the toon models. Whoever made them is my hero, plain and simple, love these shitz....
