My thoughts:
This game looks incredibly fun. Playing this game might actually come in handy in overcoming my fear of having a raptor rip my head off... From what I've seen in the videos, I have no doubt this game will be successful. I give it a 9/10 because it will be available for PC shortly after the other releases.

What the fuck is this? What is Turok doing shooting people?

Turok shoots dinosaurs.

Again.

Turok shoots dinosaurs.

And Turok is not fucking Rambo. Turok is Turok. Rambo doesn't have a motherfucking alien skull drill called the Cerebral Bore.

See Video 3 (http://www.turok.com/home.html)? This is a Turok game (with the exception of those other people in the way - Turok will probably just kill them because they're there.)

But okay. They want to reboot Turok I guess. There have been a lot of good reboots over the last few years (Battlestar Galactica, Batman Begins, James Bond, for some).

The one thing that worries me most is the listed game producer is... Touchstone. The game trailer looks like a movie trailer. They even got Don_LaFontaine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_LaFontaine) to narrate it. (I swear, if I ever hit the lotto, he's going to officiate my wedding. That will be the most awesome wedding ever.)

This is what worries me... typically movie companies fuck up games one way or another. Let us hope I am wrong.

Edit:

WARNING: Don LaFontaine can make anything (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWxPVRdDKg8&feature=related) sound awesome.

This isn't the same Turok... sadly. We used to play as an Indian who kicked ass. Now we play as some commando named Turok. It's just not the fucking same.

Besides, Turok didn't always shoot dinosaurs. He's fought people in every one of his games.

Fighting a motherfuckin' T-Rex was probably one of the most epic boss battle ideas ever. Turok 2 was also one of the first games to use a nice lookin' flamethrower.
You do know that Turok was based off of a comic book called - get this - Turok: Dinsaur Hunter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turok)? He was originally an Indian trapped in an ancient land where Dinosaurs still lived and had no way to get out, so he fought the ancient animals (Dinosaurs) to survive. It is an unnecessary change in my view.

I lament the loss of a truely interesting FPDS (First Person Dinosaur Shooter) to be replaced with what looks like a Gears of War / Splinter Cell 2-in-1 clone... with dinosaurs.

Alas, Turok degrated a lot since its original release. I think it needed a restart. But I agree with you in principle. I think it's just at this stage that they know in order for the game to sell (rather, think) that it's got to be like games that already exist.

Think of your stereotypical college gamer. Your people who sleep with Master Chief dolls under their covers and have every Family Guy dvd ever made on a rack next to The Boondock Saints and Donnie Darko. That is unfortuneately the target audience for console games.

Apart from Donnie Darko being overhyped and pretentious?

They're probably the Godfather of our generation in the sense that everyone probably has a copy and has seen the movie.

Well, I've seen many many movies, and although Donnie Darko wasn't my top pick, it's up there in my top 100. My favorite would have to be Office Space, The Shawshank Redemption being a close 2nd.

Nothing's wrong with them. But They may as well be issued to every college student in america who will watch them both, not understand either, and then claim they're the most amazing movies ever. Neither movie is really amazing. Donnie Darko would score higher on the scale than Boondock Saints. But again, neither is worth obsessing over.

Fuck you, Donnie Darko is simply awesome! Never cared much for Boondock Saints though. It's all a matter of preference, state your favorite movie and I bet I would say it stinks.

I don't have a favorite movie unfortuneately.

I do like Garden State quite a bit based on my relation to the characters.

As far as movies that I will say are very good you'd want to look at 2001: A Space Odysee, The Fountain, Memento, Well, really anything my Darren Aronofsky or Stanely Kubrik.

Like I said, Donnie Darko wasn't terrible, but it was portrayed in such an obscure way that acting was difficult and it unfortuneately showed. It was certianly well directed and well written. But with the failing suit of it's presentation it attracted not the intelligent well minded people but the emo driven wrist slicers that like it because they think Gyllenhal (sp) is cool in that movie. ...

It's not directly the movie that I'm insulting, but the people it claims into the world of cinema. It attracks people who don't know what makes a good movie. Not to generalize of course, and not to include you in said group. There are always acceptions to the rule. People who like the movie because they shair and enjoyment with the director.

Nah fuck that...Boondock Saint beats Donnie Darko any day, it's just a better movie all around. Donnie Darko was just stupid IMO (and YES I understood it). But momento (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0209144/) is my all time favorite movie!

~Also Turok is fucked if he doesn't shoot dinosaurs completely fucked!

It looks like the Dinosaurs are "neutral" now - part of the landscape. So you can shoot them, or you can turn them on enemies, or turn them on each other. That seems like a pretty cool idea.

Now if only Turok was a Native American like he was before... shit, how many Native American heroes are there in games?
