4 Page TF2 Spread in Novembers PCZONE
Reading it now, explains more about the medic and what his new role will be, still doesnt incline me to play it, i really cant stand the "The Incredibles" style graphics
*EDIT* Read abit more, aparantly there will be no more infecting by the medic :O the spys feign is probably out and even the engi's EMP might be going :O! Thanks to the trepids and Durden for hosting or http://www.system102.com/files/TF2_1.jpg http://www.system102.com/files/TF2_2.jpg http://www.system102.com/files/TF2_3.jpg http://www.system102.com/files/TF2_4.jpg Last edited by o_luminous; 09-14-2006 at 04:48 PM. |

well tf2 is made primarily by the same guys who made tfc. They have had many years to make tf2 and they even scraped some bad makes in order to make an even better mod for the source engine. They have professional ppl who are being payed to dedicate their time in to making tf2 great. I wouldn't jump to say tf2 is going to suck. They got a lot of potential here. Ofcourse valve could have screwed it up just as they did to tfc.. we will all have to wait and find out. |

Oh jesus PLEASE don't turn this into ANOTHER FF x TF2 discussion, or people arguing if tf2 will suck or not.
I'm interested in knowing what news this article has for us... |

Most if it was just stuff said/seen before, a few interesting things stuck out;
It mentions something about a singleplayer mode, but it's "still undecided and very much a talking point at valve HQ". Their map ethos seems to be making a fake 'front' for each base so it appears like a barn or something on the outside, but when you get inside it becomes a supervillain's lair (think cheesy 60's bond style volcano bases and the like). ie very No-one Lives Forever-ey. Much like FF I think the feigning stuff for the spy is giving them problems due to ragdolling so it seems like that's going out the window; the predator mode seen in the vids seems to be its replacement. Medics apparently won't be able to infect any more, no more solid info is given as to how it's being changed although from reading it, it appears it may be more solidly rooted into a support role. "He's a support class, he makes everyone around him more powerful just by his presence. He's good at offence because as you leave your base, the ability to be resupplied etc goes away... The medic does all that for you". |

I think they should make TF2 in the shadow of TFC but evolve it. Making it a separate game in the TF genre, a few major changes are justified. What I think and what will happen are completely different things, heh.

I've learned to forget about my self-centered wants for the game. They're making it as they please, and while it might not fit anyone's existing vision of it, that doesn't mean it will be bad.
Basically every "TF2 will suck" opinion stems from it not being like the other TFs, which doesn't sound so bad to me (or it's because of the graphics, which is straight up retarded, yo). Keeping that sort of "spirit" but changing the gameplay around. Do we really need another QWTF clone? Do we really want so many games that are basically the same as each other, one after another, until we die? Are we that stupid? Apparently. Sigh.

If they get rid of the Engineer's EMP then TF2 has no chance with me unless they replace it with something so unimaginably godlike that it exceeds all expectations.

Well for one there seems, in this thread at least, a lot of talk on features that Valve are getting rid of. What about the features they are adding? Haven't heard much about that, so I guess there will be some surprises.

Either way, Im interested to read exactly what the article has to say. Ill be buying Ep2 for *gasp* Ep2 alone, but welcoming Portal and TF2 as neat bonuses, and Ill sure as hell play both. |
