I only played original warcraft once at a friends house when i was small. But i played the crap outa warcraft 2, civilization II, and red alert as a kid.

That is a hard one. Graphically Medieval is years ahead but at the same time the game play balance is good in both. Rome has better music and Larger units scales which is what won it for me, being able to field armies of 3 thousand instead of medieval's usual limit of 900-1000. Medieval has it's lovely expansion: Kingdoms, a larger techtree and more factions to play.

What you could do is beat Rome with a couple factions, uninstall it then play Medieval so you play it in Chronological order.
