The team updated their BETA 2 with a new commander promotion system, new classes, and a new night map (Ins_Samawah). Check out their new trailer.

The Empires team has released the second version of their Half-Life 2 mod, which combines real-time strategy and first person shooter genres. Each game team has four classes to choose from (scout, rifleman, grenadier, and engineer), each with unique weapons and skills. One person from each team becomes the Commander and leads his team to victory using an RTS-like game interface and an adjustable top-down view of the battlefield. Watch the trailer over here.

Only TWO? Helloooo? We got updated too! And we still haven't gotten out steam friday update!

Oh, and the empires mod? Ripoff of TFC, basically. only 4 classes, but the engineer has sentries, the "grenadier" is similar to a pyro/demoman/soldier, rifleman is sniper and scout is some wicked combo of scout and medic. Only real difference is someone plays the "commander" which plays like a RTS.

I might as well add this.
So, you're saying that Empires rips off TFC? Might as well say that every class based game rips off TFC is some way.
Empires does have shitty graphics, but with having the RTS style to it, they can't really push it any further.

I mean in a way. It's more of a rip off of Battlefield.

C&C Renegade = Very similar to Empires.

well it is a really good possibility that they are still waiting on the devs to let them know when its a good idea to make an announcement. so valve might not actually be to blame.
