Mapping Sizes
So I'm pretty much set size wise with my Flagrun map right now, meaning it's a little late for changes in design scale. But for mappers like myself who are recreating or basing their levels off of TFC gameplay (such as the distance one could conc, rj, etc...) should there be concern?
I know right now that I have no way of knowing if what would make sense in TFC gameplay wise would be reduced to map retardation. What was once a high balcony could simply become a double jump-a-thon...What was once a nearly impossible double conc from a battlement to another battlement is now a simple single conc... Basically, what words and advice do you have to offer mappers like myself without access to game play in regards to designing levels previous to release? |

As stated many times before, concing is more or less exactly the same as it was in TFC. Other than that, I've no idea as I am not in the beta.

Uh... the only thing that would really effect things is trimping. You can trimp off of ramps going up for a vertical boost or off of ramps going down for a horizontal boost... that is about it. Concing and such is more or less the same as squeek has already said.

On the subject of yards don't assume the offence will all be medics and scouts! Even in leagues that will probably change so bare that in mind. This has an impact on the size of maps and their midfields, if you have a map with Large bases then consider a smaller/no midfield. FF doesn't have to have all the action in the yard or even a yard at all in all CTF maps. EDIT I had a thought about alternatives to the big concrete box for a midfield, its simple have 2 or three separate routes which could maybe link up or be separate like underground tunnels or some such. The boost foreward you get from jumping down a ramp is much weaker than in TFC last I played.
