I sometimes walk with The Heavy, Depends on how many snipers the other team has though.

I'm a spy, and I don't use walk. I made a custom command that mimics the running speed of a hwguy or soldier, and I use it when I'm disguised as either of them.

I notice a lot that it is VERY easy to miss a backstab on a moving target if you don't walk. I like to get close to people THEN hold walk and backstab them to make sure I don't mess up.

Sometimes walk is highly useful to get to a choke point and totally surprise the guy holding the position, however, I very rarely bother doing this (too slow) and it'd be pointless for you crazy Americans with your anti-footstep gaming!
