Hmm, opened up hammer, couldn't find the lights i was talking about. Sometimes on things like street lights you see a small glow in the center, like fir a streetlight, almost like a mini star emitting light that you see in the air (not a spot or beam, just a glow, kinda like a little orb if light, getting weaker the further from the center it is, and like half a foot ingame wide)

ohh your talking about the sprite itself, yea thats true i could do that ... but i dont think i would see the difference if i would make it apart of the skybox texture, i would think it would look the same and save somewhat of performance... esp when its really simple in 3ds and would not require me placeing a whole bunch of sprites...
-edit well i found out at the end of the day that i had today the 4th off work so i got to put together my new render beast.. OHH LA LA and it is a beast, i guess a 640meg bfg 8800 beats dual 7950 512megs... but it does chunk down when it loads textures after the 640megs end wich is not very often... 200fps avg vs 999 avg though does make a difference, also the dual core 2.4' (actually total 4800?ghz) makes a BIG difference esp in 3ds where something that took 2 mins now takes .38 (38 seconds) here is some sshots of a few new textures to showoff -^ no new textures just fps boasting - makes me feel good for staying up to 2am seting this other pc up -edit again 8 min compile time vs 22 ,,, whooo hooo even with a few extra lights in Last edited by barronofhellion; 07-04-2007 at 06:56 PM. |

I think its been almost a year since I've read any threads in the mapping forum but I must say, this map looks amazing. Three thumbs up and I will definitely help test this bad boy when the time comes.

Ha, I'm sure once you get all the textures in there along with a couple hundred grenades/rockets/bullets/flying bodies... things will even back out.

again as has been sai the only thing that looks a little dodgy is the space/stars textures apart from that it is full of win, im intersted in how it will lend itself to the TF style of play rather than UT |

small update
well, i have to explain why i dont have much to update, last weekend i went on a trip to san jose to watch my friend from work in his 2nd pro boxing match, he won again in the 1st round by knock out.. it was a great match and i had a blast, me and a few others spent the weekend up there because it was such a long trip, so i didnt get much done on it, and this weekend i was catching up on all the things i didn't get a chance to do last weekend... so i only got about 3 or 4 new textures done and a lot of work done with lighting, mainly because i have 2 pc's now one i can build textures on and other such tasks while the other is chomping away at rendering and compiling, wich this beast does soo well i tend to not want to use the other pc now anyways news on new update for ff is great cant wait for it to out. .. and well i would sign up for a beta tester but i really dont have much time esp after devoting to this map /// pic ///
the lighting is not finished here yet, but i just wanted to toss something out to show that you actually can see things now here |

those green and brown (?) textures don't really fit and aren't meant for repetitive useage like that.

hmm i guess ill have to add a divider in there, thx for the crit .but its not green and brown though, its green from the green fog that will be from some leaking vents spewing green smoke, still have to adjust the lighting so you can see it even better.. and really does not do it justice with that stock nasty hl2 texture you see where that arch is, once i get that massive wall texture done it will look better, atm im currently building the texture for inside the air pipes,, blister,, you are talking about that texture thats repeating on the far wall arn't you ?

another small update
well lots of work is going into the new animated texture for the air tube... but most this weekend was spent compiling to get a better light setting, also i removed all stock hl2 textures from the map (only 1 really that nasty brick texture). so really the shots you see here are not by far a complete texture version, because i still need to do one for the main walls.. and above the main base area... im mainly tring to show off the lighting now ...
