FF_Toonmatch
FF_TOONMATCH Simple deathmatch map with simple colors and cartoony skybox. The button mid-map resets every two minutes and is available to be used when it is drenched with green light. Stepping on the pad slowly lowers it to the ground. On its way, a 'wind up' noise in the background will warn you to rush back to spawn, where you are safe. All players caught outside spawn will instantly die when the explosion hits. (There are no visuals to this explosion for consideration of those with older computers.) This map might need optimization. Even when in spawn, players with older computers mention very low frame rates. Considering I can no longer edit my post (because the forum staff is fucking stupid), I'm going to have to post another message. If I have to fix a problem with the map, I guess I'll just continue posting new links, because.. HA! Stupid fucks.

No, that's more useful to distribute lua/txt/soundscape files to people that download the map from a server. Use pakrat or bspzip to include materials in your bsp (it literally packs the files into the bsp).

Added some doors (awkward) to lessen spawn camping. Got rid of grenades, Demos still have detpacks. New sound for.. secret. Now there's somewhat of a warning. Forgot to fix the texture on red's resupply glass.. ohwell. Didn't test it with people, so good luck if it messes up. |

2 different compiles so, its the same map with 2 different names, 2 map versions around like hapens with ff_basketball .x

You have two version of the map with the same name file. You did the same thing when you did ff_basketball. E0 server was running an older version while Partial had the newest one

Yeah, but I don't feel like renaming it every time I make a change. But, there's the problem with adding a new map to a server and forcing people to delete their own map. Eh, just when you download the map, rename it to "ff_toonmatch_b2.(bsp/lua)" and delete the older map. I don't think there's any thing I care to fix right now. (There's the texture problem, but I forgot to handle that, and I'm not sure how doors work with multiple people, considering how awkward they are.)

its all about taking the proper steps. Any public releases prior to final should be numbered, so clients can find the latest one, and download it with ease. It's not a whole lot of renaming, and it only takes about 5 minutes.

Also, if people rename it themselves, cubemaps might break (assuming you used them and built them).

lol don't wanna be a dick here, but you seem like a pretty lazy mapper TBH. I mean it's not all that difficult to change the names and fix brushes. If I still ran my servers, I probably wouldn't even dl this map or add it to them, simply b/c your attitude toward it makes me feel like you just threw it together instead of producing the best you can. Seems kinda counterproductive from both a mapping and gaming standpoint.
And I just wanna add that I actually like the map from the SS's...just idk your attitude ruins it for me.

I'm minimal, not lazy. I don't really care if you don't want to play, though. That's your loss. EDIT: Also, it's not just for map fixes. What if I want to add a secret passage way? What if I want to add a button here or there? I would have to release a totally new map with a totally new name, instead of just updating the original ff_toonmatch. map ff_toonmatch_b1 sv_allowdownload 1 sv_allowupload 1 You now have a server to test your beta maps (hopefully). It's not the servers choosing to kick people if they have a different map, it's the source engine (I think). Conform!

The problem is if you have the older map version, and you try to connect to a server that have the latest version, it will say map version differs and then u cant connect to server..
