Sentry gun model (low poly)
helo everyone!,
im not so active here but i'm a very dedicated TFC fan and player,i love the game and having both FF and TFC2 on their way to final stages is great!. not so long ago i've started modeling in maya 7.0 and learned to walk the walk pretty nice,(considering that i'm quite of a slow learner) but anyways, today i've sat down on my chair and started modeling a lvl 2 sentry gun, started from legs, base, rotation cylinder, and so on... and here are the results: (kind'a low quality but if you want to check it out from close view i've added a download) download: http://rapidshare.de/files/28457845/...noskin.mb.html comments and guidelines are welcome |

The gun is way undersized.

The base is way too big for the gun, and the fronts of barrels should be flattened. Basically, enlarge the top part, that'll likely help it a LOT.
Good luck, modeling is tough, and don't let people discourage you. |

Coding is far tougher than modeling. Otherwise, since modelers are involved with the mapmaking process as well, I'd give them a 2nd. Then mappers.

I think he was trying to mimic the barrel shape of WW1 and some WW2 machine guns, like the Maxim or water cooled Browning .30 cal.

Seriously, do you aim to make worthless comments, or do they just come out that way? Anyway, as for the model, it does need a lot of work. First off, like circ said the actual gun part seems too tiny. The back also looks more like an old TV than a badass automated machinegun. After you fix up the scale on the gun, work on the barrels. They don't look deadly enough. You could probably just use 2 cylinders if you had a good enough texture. Anyway, I think you can also go a little crazier w/ the poly count. It is a model afterall, not a brush based prefab or something. |

Kentaro, for someone that is new to modelling, it isn't all that bad but there are things that are not so positive :P Mainly the scale of the overall model. Sort out the scale of the gun base and the gun, and add more polys to make it look scary and you should end up with a better looking model. Then texture it to make it come alive |
