Next FF update?

So what are the plans for future FF updates now that it has been released on Steam?

Is it possible to release some hot fixes without messing with any other updates that are being worked on, such as with the flag hitbox? I'm seeing a lot of people, newcomers and regulars alike who have complained about it and I'd hate to see that be one of the reasons people stop playing FF.

If hotfixes are indeed possible, how long would it take to release one?

It's very easy to do; the only issue is that it'll require servers to update, which we can't count on being instantly done across the board.

Should have a patch coming soon, though, just a few things I'd like to finish up and squeeze into it.

I would like to see jump pads not being able to be destroyed by a snipers bullet, aardvark, ibex, bleepbloop come to mind.

If easy to do, can a civvie's head have a nice size clip for their own team for other civvies, very useful for escape maps, I only played one of them and was very hard to complete due to the pressent clipping.

I would have brought this up on github but do not have an a/c and find the whole site confusing.

Yeah.... ff_hunted is kinda broken because of that. You have a REAL hard time getting the Hunted up the shaft, with that no_clip bit. He needs to stand on top of someone to be able to jump up there. Unless you'd rather fix the map where the vent is low enough that he(or anyone else, for that matter) needs to be able to jump off of someone else's head while they crouch.

Not sure how to justify that. Seems totally arbitrary.

Created an issue for that.

Thanks for creating the issue with soft clipping, lua control would be very nice idea for it.

As for the jumpads, a scout/medic gets very little to no benifit from them after the push change, to promote team play the other classes find them beificial, but when they get sniped on the maps I mentioned plus others, scouts dont want to waste time remaking them every run and constanly getting asked to make another, just a thought to improve team play on pubs.

If the sniper rifle is still hitscan, maybe removing hitscan weapons from damaging it, or lessen the damage taken depending on distance? If you're right on top of it, fine... 1-2 shots should do it. If you're standing across the map.... not so much.

I can see some good gameplay arguments for having jumppads only damagable by explosive weapons, but can also see potential confusion arising from that.

Can the training be made more visible the first time the user loads the game up?

Honestly when I fired up the game I didn't even realize it was in the menu at first. I just tried it recently and it's very well done, props.

Many new players may have completely missed it though, unless there was some extra push to route them there that I must have overlooked?

Separately about ~50% of the time I load up FF It will freeze on the initial menu screen. (console does not pop up, see background image menu but menu does not pop up). It hangs but doesn't crash out by itself (I need to use ctrl-alt del to shut it down, and sometimes takes 2-3 tries to get in), will the dump file still be useful for you guys?

I think many are going through the training, just look at the steam forums. A lot of it was complaining about the bhop part. It seemed like that's all they did and didn't give the rest of the game a chance.

If you want to make the training more prevalent then it should be a bit easier than it currently is.

yeah I think the training probably could be split up into two sections...maybe have all of the air control+bhop portion be 'advanced training' so you don't overwhelm new players thinking if they can't get through the tutorial they have no business playing.

That is a good idea to split the training up, advanced section for bhop.
A new guy came over from tf2, did not know this at the time, was only me and him on the server, his solly skillz were very impressive as in that pickup player impressive, think his name is an anagram of mine, but I noticed he did not use grenades or bhop.

I asked why, and he said doesn't know how and only just got ff. Anyway I taught him the basics and the server filled up.

Training mode does really need class-specific sections. I've seen numerous people ask what the right-click HW fart special attack does (btw, can I change the color of the POOF cloud to green/brown to accentuate the robustness of said fart?). There are also classes where it's not immediately apparent as to what types of specials they have such as sabotaging a SG as a spy (though a better idea for this would be to add a new hud element when disguised that more clearly shows a spy that they can sabotage it)

I like the brown mist fart thing, but maybe make it a 1 in 20 with a tiny fart sound, kinda suits the dispensers burp, also be nice if the burp had a handful of variations.

Burp and fart sounds required, so we going to all pitch in and paypal Bully so he can buy curry and beer?

We've got all the burp sounds we'll ever need from Bully's training voiceover recordings.

Lol Headzy.. I'd fart for free, love the curry and beer! Raisins work well too.

I like the 8th one on the second link, it's more dramatic.

Suggestions:

Add more nailgun and super nailgun projectile speed,

Increase a little recoil.

Make nail guns, assault rifles need to be reloaded.

Adding 100 fortress points to disable security would be nice, a tiny incentive I know. Adding option to use airboats for a fun map would be nice too, team based would be a bonus.
