why all maps did not have player shadow?
the media http://www.fortress-forever.com/medi..._shutdown20038 can see player have shadow,but I can not see.why?
My card is X1950gt. |

I believe they were removed because of an issue where the shadows could be seen through floors or something. Hopefully they will make a reappearance sometime soon in an update. It doesn't bother me that much (I would probably just turn them off anyway) but I can see how it would be a major concern for some people.

Source = crappy non-volumetric shadows
Basically, shadows in the current build of Source don't shadow opposite of the light source, they are just there, and thats super lame. |

yea...in TF2 you can see shadows coming through the roof...no biggy though. You don't know who is up there and by the time you do get up there everybody might be gone, back stabbed, mutilated, funeral pyred, axed, baseball batted, wrenched, sniped, etc.
I would really like to see shadows in FF...let us decide to turn it on or off. If it really is that bad then I guess off is best for now. |

Well, one of the main problems I saw was seeing buildables through floors. You'd know just where that SG was because you could find it on the floor below where it was actually built.

There were situations where incoming offense could be seen quite ahead of the point where you should be able to see them as a defender, just by the shadow popping through a wall/doorway/the ground/around a corner etc. It was pretty awful from a gameplay pov..

Coming with some experience in the game...I guarentee that i would exploit that if you brought it back. Keep it out it's not that big of a deal, but in the wrong hands it would be very powerful!
