Where's the "I haven't seen it and I have read/not read the graphic novel" options? |=
I read up on it on Wikipedia, it does indeed look appealing. I'd probably grab the graphic novel before I'd see the movie. You can get it for like, $10 on Amazon.

My most prominent thoughts: the opening credits deserve an Oscar, and if there's no Oscar for opening credits, now is the time to start one.
Not to say that they were the best part of the movie, but I've never been so impressed by an opening credit sequence before. It was an artistic masterpiece from button to button. Having not read the novel, I can't comment much on the rest of the film beyond that I thoroughly enjoyed it. |

Well, I watched it at the midnight released. Probably the worst $9.25 I ever spent. The movie itself was alright. But it was really drawn out. I couldn't even discern the central plot though. The action scenes were sweet, but that's about it. Real problem was that I was stuck in a hot, sweaty, and very uncomfortable theater for nearly 3 hours.

I found that interesting though. There were a few giggles from the morons for the first few, but after that, people noticed that they werent supposed to be laughing, and felt like dipshits. Quote:

As for the movie in general, i would recommend reading the GN, even if its after the film (it may be even better that way). It will definitely fill some of the blanks that might have been left from the film, such as several pages of text explaining parts of the GN between chapters. And it will show you how great of an adaptation of the GN the movie really was; although some things were left out or changed completely (such as the final attack), it did great in capturing what the comic was all about. I absolutely loved the movie.
That said I'll get Ub3r's back here. I didn't read the book, and was able to follow the movie so it isn't a point of difficulty in the presentation... however I could totally understand how a person would find it difficult to enjoy. The movie, and I assume the book is loaded with plot. I mean hoards of un-ending unrelenting plot. It's got allegories, metaphors, references, allusions and all sorts of stuff. It would be impossible to catch every one and to miss some of the important ones will make the movie confusing. Now I don't see that as a weakness. I love it when movies do that. They force you to pay attention to everything to feel the story. It stimulates more my brain or something, I don't know. I end up enjoying the movie more. But not everyone is like that, so yeah like I was saying I could totally see why Ub3r didn't like it. I would suggest that you rent it or something and watch it with either no one, or with better people. You might end up loving it. |

It was awesome, and unlike uber, I didn't find it hard to follow at all, and I haven't read the graphic novel either. Also, Doctor Manhattan was fucking awesomely animated. His adam's apple moved when he talked, like a real person's would've.

The part that amazed me, is that I didn't notice it at first. I'm usually the weird guy who notices the animation of something rather than what's going on in the scene, and yet, it took me the better part of the movie to realize why I kept staring at it.

I noticed that too, both things. So this movie is definitely filed under great.

I'm not a comic nerd, never have been, so not head of Watchmen. Has a tinge of cornyness like all superhero stuff, which I usually get over within minuets.
Watched the trailer(s), I'll look forward to this one. Though that won't be till it's out on DVD, never go cinemas. And yes, what a woman that "Silk Spectre" is.
